20$ seems reasonable to me to be able to find your stolen bike. I would need 4 of them but that's still cheap security.

Says its range is 50-150 feet unfortunately. As a person whos had snowmobiles stolen, I really wish these had a longer range.

50-150ft to the nearest phone with the Tile app. I think that's how they make em for only $20. Would be a lot nicer if you could get the GPS location at all times though...

Your Tile would need to be "within range" of a mobile phone with the Tile app in active mode.

It does seem handy to keep tabs on bar-hopping buddies. Could be be good for dbo360.

I agree with the drawbacks everyone has mentioned. But I mean you get what you pay for and for $20, it couldn't hurt to have it. Better than nothing, I suppose.

It never said it only had a range of 50-150 feet....

Edit: I can see where you came from so nevermind, grizz already said what I wanted to.

I preordered a few of these and I'm kind of disappointed... They're basically larger-than-you'd-think bluetooth chips powered by a watch battery.

If you're within bluetooth range of a chip, you can make it play a little jingle to help you find it. The GPS is useless because it only works over bluetooth and can only narrow your location down to your neighborhood/street.

As for protecting a bike, you could open the app, let someone steal your bike, and they'd be able to push it out of range before the app ever found it.

If every smart phone on the planet was running the app all the time, it'd be pretty cool, but as of now it's a really slow and complicated way for finding your keys in the couch cushions.

Well its a start....maybe in a years time there will be another type of "chip" that allows better tracking and features specific to m/c"s.
