I watch him and to me he and his style looks so different from the most of the riders but I cant really say or understand what he actually does different on the bike. . Is it just me? :p
He takes different and creative lines IMO. And then executes them flawlessly. Sometimes they are just tiny things. Like prejumping braking bumps.

I have always like the smooth guys, Bailey, Lechien, Bayle. Pourcel is in that league. I am glad to see him back.

The results at glen Helen were just odd all around. I'm super pumped that they're racing there especially with south wick gone. It's certainly a unique track but I'll be pretty surprised if we see more riders like grant getting surprise Moto wins. Id like to see it but gh seems like a track that will give inconsistent results. So using pourcel's gh results is probably not an accurate measuring stick.

There was nothing odd about them at all. The only "odd" thing I witness are repeated attempts by fans to predict the future in a sport where so many variables play into the result. It's pretty simple….the guys who were best prepared for this race, and the same said of their equipment, won. Nobody knows who that is until the racing's over.
I think some guys were riding differently than they will other rounds. Agree that a lot of us speculate way too much but that doesn't change my opinion that Stewart isn't a 5th or 6th place rider. I keep fighting the idea that grant can consistently win motos.

It's amazing what some people will believe......

The guy can sweat. We've all seen him on TV in the 2009 and 2010 MX series coming off the track, pulling his helmet off, and he's sweating up a storm. He won the first moto at Freestone in 2010 on a day when the likes of Tomac and Canard were dam near falling out with heat strokes. It was so hot that day, Tomac had to take his goggles off mid race to finish, and Canard hit the ground after his second moto from overheating. CP went 1-3 that day and looked fine in his podium interview, and you're gonna tell me the dude can't sweat and his body can't cool. If the dude couldn't sweat, he'd never make it past the 15 minute mark. Anybody that believes the excuse that he can't sweat has got to be the most gullable person to walk the face of this planet.

I always found it convenient that you never heard these physical excuses from any of the CP fans in 2009 when he was kicking everybody's ass outdoors on a regular basis, but come 2010 that's all we'd hear when Canard started challenging and beating him. Either way, the guy has run and battled with some of the best this sport has to offer. I'm sure CP will find his groove sooner or later this year, but I think it still won't be enough to take the title. Martin laid a big time whoopin on all those boys this weekend, and I just can't see the comp making up 30 seconds per moto anytime soon to be able to hang with him. That ride by Martin this weekend reminded me a lot of the rides Bubba used to put in on his KX125. He was just gone, and nobody had anything for him. Pourcel and the rest of those boys better hope Martin runs into some bad luck or falls a lot this year...

bit early for predictions like that! so you think martin is gona go 24-0 in that class?!! not a chance!!!

the 250 class will have alot of different moto winners this year in my opinion- that championship will be the one to watch! Shame that Deano is out with injury now, I think he would have been a contender. I would be very surprised if Baggett, Webb, Pourcel and Anderson didnt win a few. I think a few of these guys were riding very conservative at Glen Helen- Pourcel hasnt raced competetively in 18 months so a top 5 overall isn't too bad considering!!

I would expect Pourcel and Baggett to improve as the season goes on- they will both be in the championship hunt mid season and definitely when it gets to the business end of the season!

very impressive ride from martin but he wont dominate the whole season!

Please show me where I said Martin will go 24-0...... (hint, you won't find it in my post)

He probably won't, but a guy that is capable of putting a ride like he did this past weekend probably isn't going to lose a ton. Since I've been following MX, only RC, Bubba, and RV have been capable of putting in rides like that, and out of those three, Bubba was the only guy to lose a lites title, and that was only because he missed races in the beginning of the series due to an SX injury.

Anything can happen, but Baggett and Pourcel have a TON of catching up to do, and chances are good that Martin is only going to keep improving as well. They all better hope the 19 runs into a lot of problems along the way, and that he has them in a lot of different races.....

ever hear of a guy called robbie reynard? ..

tomac came out and dominated his first pro race then didnt win another one all season...

not saying martin wont be up there the rest of the year- but your being very naive if you dont think that webb/baggett/ pourcel / anderson can run his pace. You dont win the championship at the first round

you didnt say specifically that martin will go 24-0 but you insinuated that he is in a league of his own, after one dominant performance, at one race.. lets see how the next couple of rounds go before you hand him the title!

theres a few guys coming back from injury (musquin, baggett) that will be improving alot each week, webb that hasnt got a decent start yet and pourcel whos not raced for 18 months! In my opinion martin had a great race at glen helen- came out swinging and was very impressive. But we havent seen the best of the other riders mentioned yet

Sounds like you don't understand how it works........

Seeing a rider take off a helmet and seeing sweat on his face and head isn't an indicator of much. I have a good friend who is technically a quad (although he has functional use of both hands) who works out daily and can sweat out a shirt quickly. But he has zero sweat function from about mid-chest down. It definitely affects him when it gets to triple digits around here, so much so that when he rebuilt his house he had a separate AC system installed just for quick cooling of his bedroom, bathroom, and office.

During the charity bike rides for SCI causes you notice a lot of varying levels of sweat loss from hand cyclists, depending on the location of their injury and whether their injury is complete or compression.

I've never been a big Pourcel fan myself, but I have no doubt that he has some issues that lots of folks might discount. The effects on bowl/bladder alone would be difficult to manage. I've known people who appeared fully recovered from SCI injuries who still need to cath and use some pretty crazy bowel management programs.

I would hardly call Tomac's 3-1 in his first ever pro race a dominating performance. He didn't win that second moto by a whole lot. Yes, he did win that race, but that performance isn't even comparable to what Martin did this past weekend.

And yes, Martin was in a league of his own this past weekend. They said at one point in the race his lap time was three seconds faster than the next fastest time in the race. That, IMO, is in a league of his own.

I know there are quite a few guys in the class capable of winning still, and I hope they prove me wrong and take this thing to the wire. I just don't see it happening based on past similar performances from other great riders. Did anyone really think that anyone else except Bubba had a good chance of winning a race when he was putting in performances similar to the 19 this past weekend back when he was in the small bore class? I sure didn't, and I saw the same type of domination this past weekend. What's even scarier is that Martin is just a sophomore in the pro class, and he was putting a serious whoopin on all the veterans of the class. Webb did the same thing too, except he didn't see Martin's roost.

That's just my $0.02. Take it for what it's worth. I've seen it play out that way quite a few times in the past....

I don't doubt the guy might have some lingering issues, I just don't believe that the guy can't sweat. He dern near won the title in 2010, a summer when Tomac dern near had a heat stroke and another 450 rider didn't survive a heat stroke, and you're telling me he can't sweat or his body can't regulate its own temperature? Please.....
