People saying RV wasn't straight up with the injury issue and industry insiders are kind of peeved about the lack of truth shared about possible injury and the nationals. Why do teams in other sports not disclose injuries? They don't want to give opponents information they may use to their advantage. The same thing was going on here and they were in the process of trying to finish out another season with the most wins and a championship.

Is that any reason for them to shit down Guy B's neck? These journalists handle these prima donnas with kid gloves and show them a ton of respect as well as promote them in a good manner.

Since he went to see a doc before deciding to get the work done, maybe he just didn't know. You can't expect him to reveal things that he doesn't know.

Stick and ball sports have all kinds of rules concerning the disclosing of injuries.

What I dont get is why people think in MX/SX its an advantage to the competition if they knew RV had a knee injury. It was pretty well known and it didnt change how they raced him.

This isnt stick and ball sports where you can tackle RV on his injured knee or make him cut or jump off of his injured knee.

It is an advantage in stick and ball sports and they are required to give out full injury reports of all their players.

Lol...... They don't want to give information that their opponents can use.

Like if Villa Proto had of come out two weeks ago and said my knees jacked up. How do you think the opponents would use that information? Do you think they would kick his knee on the way to the starting gate? Or try to slam his knee in a corner?

That excuse is fine if you're playing in a contact sport like football, soccer and the like. It doesn't fly for me in terms of Supercross or motocross.

The only reason I can fathom is to not give his opponents a psychological advantage. Otherwise it's just a bunch of hogwash.

So confidence has nothing to do with a riders capabilities on a track? I would say alot more riders are feeling confident about their chances at winning some outdoor national races this season.

The whole Mettty/ Hill Canada swap proves he has known for a month he was not racing Nationals. They did not make that deal with the Canadian team overnight, this has been in the works for a long time.

I understand why he couldn't say anything, so he just should have not said anything- instead of saying everyone else does not know what they are talking about.... Bad PR move, and makes himself look like a scumbag (IMO). He basically called Matthes and JT$ (among others) liars when in fact it was him lying.

But the Nationals just got a whole lot more interesting!

I think its fair to say RV did not go to the doctor yesterday.......Seemed to be a set up for the inevitable....

Other sports have rules requiring teams to disclose injuries, whether or not they're honest or accurate is another discussion. The reason that these races are on national television is entertainment. The more involved and informed fans are, the more the sport will grow. It also makes it more of an even playing field, some riders get hurt at the races and everyone knows about it, some in private and they keep it a secret. The more money you have, more factory support you have, the easier it is to keep that secret.

If it was disclosed weeks, ago, and it was news that Kawasaki was looking or had a replacement, fans would be buzzing about it even more than they did. It would have been a part of broadcasts and pre-shows. Good for the fans good for the sport.

Of course, riders are under contract, same as many other sports, so there's a fine line on what can be released but a little more transparency is a big plus in my opinion.

OP is an idiot.

If RV was afraid of people learning about his injury because it would give his competitors an advantage he wouldn't have told anyone about. Everyone in the pits would not have known about it. Matthes wouldn't have been tweeting about it. RacerX wouldn't be talking about it.

I believe I explicitly stated "psychological advantage" in my post.
