I really thought there would be some part of RV that would be excited about taking his winning bonus or any kind of excitement but he's just so down about it all it seems. I just think he can't say what he wants to and that he isn't good about acting like nothing is wrong when there is a lot wrong.

If RV wants a career change I know of a sales position for the world's largest antenna manufacturer that requires 70 plus hours of work per week plus traveling 2 to 3 days a week.. Pay is 90K salary plus commission.

Long hours but it has to be a better life than having to race SX/MX for a living.(insert sarcasm emoticon here)

Perhaps the "a lot wrong" is him having to deal with everyone constantly asking him, "whats wrong?".

I can't imagine getting over a job, as we pretty much all do when the fun fades a bit, and having to deal with as my people on my case about it as he does. Dude dedicated his life to this sport and pushed it far further than any of us will, if he's over it, he's over it, appreciate his contribution and let the man breath.

Everyone's acting like a naggy spouse.

I fully understand how hard it is for our top racers but come on......how many people would ditch their day jobs for a shot at racing for a living? As a result my empathy is less than zero for any racers talking about how hard it is to do what they do. No one is forcing them and if RV has had enough he should retire ASAP if he is no longer enjoying it.

But I'll bet you don't make what RV does. I'll bet nobody is lining up for your autograph. I'll bet you won't get to retire before you turn 30.

I'm in sales and I risk breaking my leg or neck about twice a week when I ride.

I'm also waiting for the "you don't get it" and the "you're whiny" posters to pop in any second now.

For TV, you would think they would do a couple of takes...or review the questions and answers.....If they did do that, they need to get some help....

RV can do great interviewswhen he wants too and obviously he is answering the same questions over and over regarding 4 in a row....But it was almost like he didnt know what to say and was talking in circles.....

Not to start an argument but I feel like you're confusing empathy with respect. We all have our "fuck this job" moment, but when these athletes who have dedicated 20+ years of 24/7 work to get to this level say it, you lose respect for that?

And honestly, this "how many people would ditch their day jobs for a shot at racing for a living?" has go to stop because the fact of the matter is, no one is stopping anyone from ditching their jobs to race... yet how many people actually take the risk? Not many.

Granted they're living our dreams, let's not disrespect them by saying "they should realize how lucky they are" because we're all jealous... and they worked a fuck load harder to get there than we did.

Maybe he can't retire... yet.

Maybe he reads the constant, stupid, negative crap on Vital, like this post, and is just sick of trying to put on a show for "fans" like yourself. Who could blame him for being "over it"?

That said, RV himself said (in the Sports Illustrated interview posted on here towards the end of last week) that racing Supercross at a competitive level is one of those "you either have it or you don't" things. Natural talent, hard work will only increase your chances, but you need to have natural talent to start with. Therefore, it's not quite accurate to say that the average joe sticking with their sales job, as opposed to ditching it all to pursue a racing career, is a sign that Villo or any pro racer has taken a risk/worked harder than anyone so we can't say we're jealous or that we would want to be in their shoes. While they have taken a risk, and have worked harder than many/all of us, they also had a base of natural talent to begin with.

Great post akillerwombat. No disrespect on my part was intended only sharing one person's opinion (mine) I don't have any compassion for how tough their jobs are....respect yes....compassion no.

For me it is a little like a multi million dollar Lottery winner not being excited when they found out they won.....but I haven't seen a video of a Lottery winner that looks like someone just shot their dog either.

Outsider-How positive was your demeaning personal comment about Weston Peick?

You are missing the point but I don't have the interest or the time to make it any clearer to you. This is a moto forum not an Algerian peace committee so we don't all have to be on the same page.

Not even sure what you're talking about, but pretty sure it has nothing to with this topic.

Just do not get the hate this guy gets at all.. if you're not accusing PED use you're insisting he retires because "he's not happy enough"... it would be funny if it wasn't so strange.

Agree to disagree.

... but just so you know, you're stance (all be it extremely ignorant and self centered) isn't hard to grasp.

you think he isn't enjoying it?

how the hell can anyone say what he is or isn't enjoying? i can't imagine the dedication to perfect your craft that he does every single day of the week, winning races and championships, and then has dorks on the internet blast him because "he doesn't enjoy it anymore".

give me a fucking break, Rock. you're better than that

The topic is your saying I am posting negative crap on Vital while you made a cutting comment about WP40s looks on here. I'm expressing my opinion that RV could maybe be a little more pumped and I'm the one being negative while you are Mr Positive making a demeaning personal comment? That is funny but as a friend of the Peicks I didn't and don't appreciate your comment.

You are 100% fabricating the my insisting part then have to introduce your frequent knee jerk PED comment.

Did you read RX Monday conversation with RV? He seems to imply RC & MC had no competition when they were so dominant.

I made a joke about WP's picture... an unflattering picture at that.

As far as the topic, you're entitled to your opinion, and I don't really care, just thought your post was more piling on and the negativity sure seems rampant about a guy that just won his 4th title in a row.

Since only one other person ever has achieved that, how can anyone claim to know how he should act, except for MC?

Okay, should we ask why you’re not doing backflips and dousing yourself in more champagne and going more nuts right now? We know that that’s not normally your style. Should you be doing that? Should you be more pumped? You just made crazy history.

I guess that’s one of my downfalls that I don’t do that. I probably should but that’s not me. It’s the nature of the sport where if I don’t win next weekend it doesn’t really matter what I’ve done prior to this. This sport chews you up and spits you out, mainly from the fans aspect of it. You’ll have two or three bad weekends and all of a sudden he’s washed up or he’s this or that.

I don't think its that he doesn't enjoy racing or supercross/motocross in general. Its just a lot of pressure. And it builds more and more every year that he wins another championship. Everyone is looking to knock him off or waiting for him to start to slip. It probably drives him nuts. People are way to hard on the guy. I personally like his attitude and how he's not some over excited cheesy retard saying "super pumped!" every five mins. When your at the top people just pick you apart. He couldn't eat a fucking snack cracker properly according to some of the idiots on here haha

After reading the Racer X interview with Ryan (thanks rcm406) I can better appreciate Ryan's not that emotive of a person so will cut him some slack in the celebration department. However I stand by my comments making a living racing motorcycles is a good work if you can get it and at 57 working multiple jobs to make a living just don't have a lot of empathy and compassion for the plight of the professional racer. Respect and appreciation beyond belief though to be clear.

Outsider-I think that is weak RE: joking but I've been wrong before so will give you the benefit of the doubt.

akillerwombat- RE: but just so you know, you're stance (all be it extremely ignorant and self centered) isn't hard to grasp.your opinion has been noted. Please know I have no idea what your talking about but save me an additional reply/insult. I'm good and hope you have a good week.

EDIT: Thank you RV for racing the Nationals!

I liked the interview. I think it's tough to be the champ. We are a hater based society. We are waiting for him to lose so we can bash.
Then the more you win,the more you have to win,for the team and sponsors.
I think the your only good as your last race mentality that is prevalent really beats you up too.
But RV doesn't crack, still dominated another SX season. Look at all the past champs that couldn't back it up once.

I just looked the interview up to see what all you guys are talking about. I was expecting something way worse haha. I don't know what the haters in this thread are talking about, the dudes a beast. 16 rounds pretty much straight through at his pace is gnarly!! He's relieved to wrap it up. Talk to him when he has some time to digest his championship and I'll bet he'll be more stoked. He was still in the trenches during this interview.

No, but It doesn't surprise me that he would say that. I've never seen someone so full of himself. Why try and drag down other racers accomplishments that paved the way. I've lost what little respect I had for him. I'm starting to think RV was the problem in his relationship between him and his dad.
