Painting or powdercoating shock spring?

My rear shock spring is yellow of all colors honda went with yellow.. lol, its a lil scuffed up and i'd like to paint or powder coat it glossy black to go with the red/black color scheme of the bike. Has anyone ever painted their shock spring? I read the paint chips easy from flexing and powder coating is the best but I can't find a place on maui that does powder coating. What kind of paint would be best?

Just do it right and have it Powder coated, you won't regret it. I do my own powder coating with a old oven and a 120.00 gun/kit. Nothing to it.

Dupli-color engine enamel paint line. Good colors, great quality and durable for bike stuff.

I've painted several shock springs with it and they have held up well.

I've sandblasted and painted probably 100 of those curly little bastards. Pain in the ass priming and painting all in and around them, but never had one peel.
