As for Aussies riders, going to Europe then to the U.S that path has been the most successful path if history is anything to go by, but also to go to Europe as young as possible.
If you look at most of the Aussies who have gone straight to the U.S, there has been some success in terms of on single race results, or a scattering of top 5 and podium finishes, but no long term success.

Sad that moss is a failure and his dad can't be understood by anyone other then the dimskulls in australia, yes that is quite sad. But the real reason for the difference in injuries between one side of the ocean and the other is that Europe had no real supercross series, and the GP tracks don't look like giant outdoor supercross tracks the way that US National tracks do. Ask Musquin, Townley, Tortelli, Albee, Pourcel and a long list of other GP riders what the US moto scene does to a body. In Roczen's first few races here I remember thinking "the kid hauls ass, but he looks terrified". Herrings would win the 250 Nationals in the States going away, I have no question. But is he durable enough to make it through SX and the 450 nationals without injury at the speed he goes? I'd love to find out.
