I saw this and figured someone on here would be interested. It's an '04 and not an '05 as the owner claims. (thanks motox11). It was prob. a leftover model that the owner bought in '05 if I had to venture a guess.

That bike is an '04, but definitely a clean bike! Totally different motor in 05-07 than the 04's.

Hmmm, based on the graphics I guess it would be. Good catch.

Unless he changed them but he said everything is stock so I'm assuming it prob. would indeed be an '04 instead. I never understand how people can get these details wrong.

How can you tell? Rode a 03 with motor work and it doesn't have near the power as the 05 to 07. Love the power on my 05, just wish it would get more mileage in the desert. Always carry a gallon of gas in my back pack when we ride just so i can go as far the 450s.

Wanna know the easiest way to tell? Look at the hose by the clutch cover. Look how it is on that bike, then look how the 05-07 motor is designed.

The hose running by the clutch cover has been a kx250 design since the mid 90s or even earlier. In 04, the motor was on average 2-3hp less than the other japanese brands. Kawasaki totally redesigned the engine, new suspension, and modified the frame in 2005, which brought it back up to the competitive power that the other brands had. I'd just hate to see someone buy it, thinking it was an 05 and then have no top end parts match up to it.

I agree. One should be able to verify by the VIN number as well.

It's interesting that Kawasaki would invest that kind of money and then quit selling it here a couple years later. I'm glad they did but just seems odd.

Another easy way to tell an '04 from '05 by just looking quickly is the 4 raised ribs on the frame behind the kickstarter, '04 has them, '05-'07 does not.
