Just got off the phone with a good friend who was out at Pax (FL). He was riding there tonight and a rider went down, keep the rider in your prayers. My friend is a EMT and it did not sound good , the rider was on a life flight about 2 to 3 hours ago. Time to Pray

I have ridden at Pax many times. I love that track. I can't remember the city. I think maybe it is in Bunnell or something like that?

Well obviously I will be praying for the guy. You do not have to post that you are going to pray to make the prayer work do you? Relax.

Just heard terrible news, the rider didn't make it. His name was Ben Geiger. Ben was around 17yrs old and could be found riding and racing in the C class mostly in the north east FL tracks. I don't know anything else about how it happened, but I know Ben was a great guy and loved the sport of MX. Please send prayers for Ben and his family.

Did he get landed on or something?

Skull fracture sounds harsh with a crash by yourself.

Pax has so many blind jumps I could see someone getting landed on

He was from this area. The word is that it was a broken femur and loss of blood. my assumption is that it was most likely from femoral artery. How many broken femurs have we all seen? It's a bad bone to break but it is broken all of the time in this sport but the reality is that it can sever or nick the femoral artery and unless you know it's broke you would assume that the rider is just unconsious due to head trauma and would not think to apply the right pressure in the right place. You would literally have seconds if not a very few minutes to do something about it. I did not know this young man well but I have met him and seen him around. He was me, just as I am sure he was a lot of us at 17, he just loved the sport and a freak thing took him. So sad for the family. I know my prayers are for them and this young man's friends.

This is unfortunate. Best wishes to the boy's family.

I'm about tired of the groomed freeways with huge jumps. Don't know about you, but it seems that the really bad injuries have escalated. And, it seems that all of the big tracks must have the big jumps. Bring back the old school tracks. Don't groom them. The riders will have to ride slower, but they'll still have a blast. Heck, some of the best times for me is when the ruts are axle deep and full of water.

Sorry. Just a rant. Best wishes to the kid's family. Sorry to hear of their loss.

Makes two of us but stand by for the folks that will respond "MX is dangerous" and "injuries and death unfortunately just part of the sport" etc.

The biggest reason MX will never make it to prime time is because this stuff is just accepted as normal.

Does anyone think NASCAR would have grown if they didn't have caution lights. The older I get the more I dislike big jumps and the more idiotic I find blind jumps. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand there is something wrong with this picture.

WHEN are we going to put an end to this?

I am very sorry this happened and my heart goes out to the family. Godspeed Ben.
