Our sport has a great future ahead of it as far as competitive riders are concerned. We attended the 2014 Spring Classic at MillCreek last week and although many Championships were handed out, it was hard to point out the "Most" dominant rider in each class. These kids were trading wins with each moto making many of the riders questions themselves and the work they put in over the winter break.
Most notable if I had to pick a couple were:
Alex Frye... this kid was on fire and showed to be about the most dominant in the field for the week.
Tristian Charboneau... This kid has been on the DL for a while and he came to show everyone he is done with that! He looked really good out there.
Nick Gaines... showed some really good speed but a couple falls in a couple motos limited his Championship wins.
Cameron Cannon... jumping up to the big bikes, he took home a Championship in the Schoolboy class and looked great doing it on the 125cc. (2nd in both Supermini classes)
Tanner Stack lite it up in the Supermini classes, he could not be touched.
Garrett Marchbanks was fast in the 85 sr. classes.
Aaron Plessinger and Luke Renzland both took home some gold in the 250A and 450A classes, Renzland in 450 Pro Sport as well...
Andy Kost... was very dominant in the College boy and open 2 stroke class, wining both titles.
Keith Tuckers best finish in the A class was a 2nd. He rode consistent with the exception of one DNF but just could not put together a winning moto like he had at Mini O's. I think he will work hard for a win in the near future to get back on top.
A couple names we keep hearing from our great announcers in the both in the C class were Chad Saultz, Tyler Glazer and Gavin Todora. (Unfortunately, my kids name was not part of that group being talked about.. unless you count his horrific crash on the site lap before the second set of motos...)
Small bore bikes you had Crockett Myers, Jackson Grey, Caden Braswell and Matthew Leblanc all looking great out there taking wins.
So, as you can see, there are a lot of names coming up to keep us talking for several years. Like I said, what I found humm... strange, or fun or cool... was most these kids raced 3-4 classes and I don't think there was one that won more then two titles. The racing was that back and forth for most classes. This should be a great year of close racing in the Amateur classes!
