Mate i own a 05 CR125 and absolutely love it! Great Handling has a nice light whippy feel to it. The engine once jetted with a JD jet kit and a vforce reed block is awesome! I found it was jetted fairly rich from stock! but now i have the jd kit in there it's crisp and a strong little engine! The v force's i found gave it better bottom and made it rev more up top, All i have had to replace is a chain and sprocket great reliability if you take care of it! GET it ride it and you will have a blast.

I've got an 07 and it handles like a dream, it has a flat spot in the motor just as it hits power band, I've been told they all do that. So if you want to ride it quick, you have to rev the shit out of it. It's a really quick bike if you ride it right, blows away my mates ktm 125.

Nice. If it doesn't have one already, Iook into getting an exhaust flange spacer from mxbonz. Best $20 you can spend on it. Next up I'd do a vforce.

Congrats on new bike! 125s rule

Question for guys with experience with this bike. My buddy has an 03 CR and it is so gutless on bottom that I thought something was wrong with it. Like it falls on it's FACE if I try to do most 2nd/3rd gear corners with no/little clutch. So my real question, do you need to have that CR totally rung out to not bog at all!? When the RPMs are up it seems to run great/clean, but falls on it's face so easy.

I ride an 03 RM for a 125 and if I don't want to ride it fast I can do the same corners and not have it totally bog out with no clutch work. That said, the yz is even stronger than my rm for sure.

What is the benefit of the exhaust flange spacer? I ride an '07 CR125 and was curious.

It will add a little low-end to that spot that is dead on these cr125s.

Sounds like it was lean if it bogged when opeing the throttle from low end. Be carefull when you rebuild it if it is true it was lean

wow it blew up on ur first ride, that sucks almost seems fishy, i dont think it would blow cuz it had 50 hours on it, but i guess it depends how it was ridden in those 50 hours. Ive seen a 05kx125 and 03ktm125 with well over 100 hours on the top end, other than a huge decrease in power and it smoking alot they kept on going but mostly trail riding. wfo on a mx track is another story.

lucky it was only the top end. how did/does the silencer look? oily, dry black, dry whiteish?

I actually had a buddy with a 05cr125 that acidently put straight gas and ran it for 10-15 mins luckily he was just puttin around so it didn't blow but the silencer was so white it was scary

These things go through pistons more than they go through tires. That's what make them fun. Run them until they don't start and rebuild them for $140.

I've weeded all the four strokes out of my stable and I couldn't be happier. Get off the couch!

Bailey........bad luck on the top end going out....BUT , from the sounds of it , it needed it. 50hrs is a LOT of time on a 125....even if it was ridden easy. You said the cylinder is good which is great , but while you have the top end off you should get a shop or someone who knows what they are doing to make sure the crank is still in tolerance! That is more important than the top end. If the bottom end goes....it's going to cost you around 2 - 4X more than re-doing the top end. Better to be safe on that.

BTW......I myself am picking up a little 2005 KX 125 tomorrow. I'll ride it once or twice , then she's getting torn down to the bare frame and re-done from the ground up.Going to be putting some magic into this one by the time it's done. Don't know how many times I'll have it at riverdale ( since it's a loose / sandy track....but I'll have it at most of the other tracks around here this summer. For riverdale I'll be using the KXF450 since that sucker carves it's own lines and doesn't give a shit where it goes. Grinning

Maybe see you around kid.
