Was curious if anyone knows the deal with poto and wiemers fork tube coating? Does Showa set them up from the factory with it or are they powdercoated?

I know. I was wondering if anyone knew which of the two it was. I'm planning on powder coating mine, and hope it comes out looking half as clean as these.

I'm gonna guess it is either a hard anodizing of some sort or a ceramic coating of some sort......I can guarantee you though that it is NOT a powder coating :-)

It has to be a hard anodize.
I don't think they would want to coat the fork in anything because it will trap in more heat. That's bad enough for normal (spring) forks, and even worse for an air fork

I didn't even think about ceramic coating. Now that I took a look at a few more pictures, it seems like that's the most possible.

Well, plus the fact that with the added thickness you'd likely have trouble fitting them in the clamps...

Theyre just sandblasted. Takes off the anodizing and leaves the silver look like what the hondas had a few years ago. Villos are anodized though.

You don't want to just get your forks anodized or powdercoated.Unless its just on the outside or done by a suspension shop that knows what they are doing.MB1 does this check the site.250 for the forks and 250 for the shock

Sandblasted eh? If that's true then that's pretty quick and easy to do once you disassemble the forks that is.

The baking process can't be good for heat treated aluminium either.

Just curious, what is the advantage of hard coating the outer fork tubes? The inners make sense to me but I don't get what the DLC'd uppers are supposed to do better than stock other than look cool.
