I heard, and already suspected, that Mike's hand came off of the bars is why he couldn't avoid hitting Stewart. Did anyone happen to get a good photo of it for confirmation?

Just watch the heat race on youtube. They show a replay in slow-motion. It's plain as day his right hand is off the handle bar when he t-bones James rear wheel.

Looked like He whiskey throttled it through the whoops then locked his front brake up and his hand popped off the grip. He should send Bubba a thank you card if it wasn't for him Mikey would have been in the cheap seats.

REALLY surprised bubba wasn't phased by it. also surprised it didnt take him down or damage his bike.

pretty lucky for both of them actually

If James was a fraction of a second slower, his leg is wrecked. If he's a fraction of a second faster, the big guy in the background is seriously hurt. I'd say everyone got lucky on that one.

I found it really odd that Stewart's bike barely budged when Mike plowed into him. I agree that Stewart is lucky but I can't figure out why his bike didn't react at all. Did Mike finish that race? In the broadcast under slow motion, it looked like he broke several spokes or tweaked the wheel but I might have been imagining things.

#7 was on the gas and hammering out of the corner and #800 was on the binders hard. So #7 tracked out of corner and #800 took the brunt of it from being on the binders.

Because he`s leaning over and rear wheel is against the berm. If he was straight up he`d be off the bike.

I'm not going to say Alessi wasn't lying, but he has made some legit passes on the first lap or two of the races lately. Of course, he loses the position very soon thereafter but he could have really thought he was going to show JS7 a wheel. . .

Indeed that too was a display of whiskey throttle , however we didnt hear Stewart saying he was making the pass and just showing Reed the wheel...... Whiskey throttle happens and thats not the point.... MA800 describing it as a pass attempt is a sign of how looped that kid is.....sounded so silly in that profesional interview

Why is everybody making such a big deal about it? You guys make it out like MA is the only one to ever make a mistake through the hoops. OK, I get it JS happened to be there but he's not the first to be taken out by a legitimate mistake. IF memory serves me I think I've even seen JS make a mistake trough the hoops. I don't think MA's hand would have stayed any better on the bars had he been alone in the corner.
