I can buy a used CRF450 for thousands less than a new CRF450 too man..lol.
not knocking layinbody31's bike in anyway , just pointing out the obvious you cant compare apples to oranges
.
and Layinbody31 lives 4 miles from me, basically off the same road, already said we would help him out
And AJ, I'm going to try to stop in the shop sometime this week or next... what time are you there til? I want to see what you guys do for the fuel pump-to-petcock conversion on the bottom of the tank and also how you fit the airbox to the carb
Needless to say, the conversion is on hold til I get it back running
Pit Row
AJ from Service Honda said earlier in the thread that he'd be down for helping me out (since he literally lives less than 5 miles from me) so since I don't have the ability to weld aluminum (only have a MIG right now, and don't have a special aluminum gun) I'm thinking I will talk to him and see what all he can help me with to get the conversion completed, and also if he'd like to go in on making a bolt-on adaptation kit with me, of which he could fabricate the subframe and certain other parts based off my prototyopes and then sell through the shop.
As far as the bike goes, I split the cases and completely rebuilt the motor myself back in September, but 2 weeks after getting it rebuilt I partially tore my ACL in a crash at Wildcat Creek MX in Rossville, IN. So needless to say that ended my season and I'm just working to rebuild the strength in my leg/knee until I can ride again in a few months. I would like to have the conversion done before next season but my wife and I just had our 2nd child and I have a lot of other projects currently going on so it may just stay in running/riding (albeit stock) condition for a bit
Because of that and the 6 month recovery tho I am going to be selling my bike. But before I see it go I wanted to at least utilize it to get the conversion done so I could make a jig to build the subframes and get started selling conversion kits. So in talking with AJ he is going to be able to help me get my first subframe all welded up before I sell the bike so that in the next few weeks I can get the rest of the parts made and start putting together kits!
Maybe I can sell enough kits to fund a new bike by next spring haha
great seeing you at the shop!
Hope the surgery goes well and you get all healed up..
been dealing with a torn ACL for many years myself.
I'm slammed all day today.and evening.. .with bike deliveries etc..
so I'll give you a shout tomorrow.. if your around i can probably stop by on my home from work sat.
and go over the subframe and other details .
AJ
