Well Richards rant sure hasn't hurt his stock any....he's the only defensive play in the league that is in the top ten in jerseys and other NFL merchandise sales! Wilson is #2 on the list and Lynch is 6th! Since the NFC championship, Sherman jersey sales have gone thru the roof!

GO HAWKS!

BTW, for those of you interested, Sherman was wearing a Mic in Sundays game. NFL total access will be playing the soundtrack here within about 15 minutes.

Yeah man, I heard that yesterday....this should clear up the accusations that he was saying something other than what he stated he said! Smile

Wow, I did not think Sherman's words to Crabtree after the play were sincere, which is why I thought Crabtree was justified in shoving Sherman away. Now after hearing the audio, I've done a full 180. Sherman did seem sincere, it was a helluva game, and I think he was just generally pumped up (easier for the winner). Still thought his interview wasn't the best thing ever, but that audio changed the situation for me, personally.

He said exactly what he told everyone he said, He walked up, patted crabtree on the ass, said "helluva game" and extended his arm for a handshake. Plain and simple. I think crabtrees response is what had Sherman so pumped up especially when they asked him about that play in particular right off the bat.

They are going through the NFL site for anywhere from $120 for the printed ones, to $250 for the high end ones. You can look around though and there are some ermmmmm "less authentic" versions available much much less expensively.

No, I'm not assuming that is it "substantially more difficult", I'm simply acknowledging that it's nothing to sneeze at. You on the other hand act as if getting into Stanford is a small accomplishment and as if Communications is a sub-standard program (engineers do that with ever other major). I'm sure that there are people that were tops in your engineering programs that may not have made it through the Communications program at Stanford (or any other school) for the simple fact that people do well in areas that suit them.

Graduating from any degree program with a 3.9 is something special, especially for an athlete. It seems to me that you have issue with me feeling that Stanford is a top flight school. The fact is that it is a top flight school.

Richard Sherman is a football player and football player's talk shit no matter what school they go to or how smart they are. You didn't know that?

First, if you read my posts about Sherman, I was one of the first to stick up for his reaction as an emotional guy in an emotional moment. However, I'm not going to stand here and shower him with accolades of intelligence when nothing, including his degree, indicates anything special. Did you know he scored a 24 on the Wonderlic? That puts him on par with a secretary. Not exactly rocket scientist material, yanno....

Richard Sherman's Wonderlic score

Stanford's a good school...no doubt....but Communications isn't anything special, and that applies pretty much everywhere.
Not defending his antics or anything but to insinuate him not being intelligent is just ignorant. He graduated with a 4.1 GPA from high school and ranked 2nd. I guess all the other students in his class were dumb asses too, with the exception of one. But since he only received a degree in communications from Stanford he is a dumbass. Or maybe, just maybe, he realized while in college that he wouldn't need a "superior" degree because he was going to go into the NFL and make at least 5 times per year what you're making with your "superior" engineering degree? Knock him and his degree all you want, but he is doing something he loves and makes a great living doing it. You basically sound like a pompous ass bragging about your degree and being so much more intelligent than him. Brag all you want, he's still living the dream and you're still an internet tough guy. (fyi, I'm not a Sherman or Seahawks fan.)

Heres the funny thing, he really didn't know he was gonna make the NFL. He came in as a receiver on scholarship, almost lost his ride, and then they moved him out to be a corner. From there he got drafted way down the list ( I believe the pick # was 154) and was able to build himself into the best corner in the game. As far as I can tell, he fully intended on using his degree if things didn't go the way he had hoped with the NFL.

Well, guess I'm wrong. Regardless, maybe he enjoys communications. Maybe he would have had a successful career after obtaining that degree. Who knows, but blasting him because of his choices and basically calling him a moron just shows how ignorant someone can be. He obviously works hard to achieve his goals. You don't become one of the best because you're a slouch. And you don't graduate with that high of a GPA in high school or college because you're stupid.

He new it. He wasn't expected to be a great football player by many, but make no mistake about it he knew for sure he would. That is the make up of the majority of the Seahawks though, and it is what Caroll and Schneider were looking for in players when they assembled this team. They wanted a bunch of guys with chips on their shoulders who were looking to prove all the naysayers wrong.

Where are all the bash'rs now ...who basically called Richard Sherman a lair on what he said to Crabtee! Richard made a mistake with the press....no doubt! I think Crabtree looks bad as well for his response to Sherman!

Right now, NFL Network is showing the "game replay" of the NFC game, with both Crabtree and Sherman Mic'd up.

No reason for him not to get a little coin out of the whole ordeal.

You're right, but how I imagined the tone and attitude he was putting off in that given situation, and how it actually sounded, were two very different images. All I was doing was ceding that I originally had the wrong idea about that whole incident. I wasn't alone in thinking that Sherman went over to Crabtree to rub it in, even if he did say "helluva game". But after actually hearing it I think he was legit stoked on the great battle they just went thru.

I'm in Destin, Fl. right now, wearing my fancy SEAHAWK coat everywhere and I have people constantly coming up to me wishing me good luck. Last week I was in Chattanooga and Saint simons island GA. and it was the same thing: Go Hawks!

I usually have to explain Richard Sherman and give Peyton his props though... Smile

It is a weird phenomenon. I have been a Seahawk fan since about 1980. I have always had a Seahawk shirt or hat, but rarely wear them.

In the past 3 or so weeks, WHENEVER I am wearing something Hawk, I am also getting a lot of "Go Hawks", and "Good luck, Hawks."

I think it is just the 12th Man taking the time to recognize each other.

If you ask me, it is pretty cool.

10 Things I Learned After America Learned About Me

By

Richard Sherman

1. No one has ever made himself great by showing how small someone else is. That’s not mine. It belongs to Irvin Himmel. Somebody tweeted it at me after the NFC Championship Game. If I could pass a lesson on to the kids it would be this: Don’t attack anybody. I shouldn’t have attacked Michael Crabtree the way I did. You don’t have to put anybody else down to make yourself bigger.

2. This stage is bigger than I thought it was. How much does America love football? My one little rant made it onto CNBC and CNN. I heard my name on The View. I got tweets in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Czech and Arabic. People identify with the struggle and the battle of a football game.

3. When to look away. I have always had a good sense of this, but there came a point in the aftermath of the NFC Championship game when I had to cut off the attention. The incident was so polarizing that you had to pick a side. You either hated it or you loved it. I looked at Twitter and I saw two guys having a conversation about me in Spanish; I was going to Google translate it, but I just decided to let it go.

4. I’m lucky to have detractors. You have to take a step back and understand that you’re playing a game and the people who say disparaging things online and on television are trying to take you off that game. I’ve had my fair share of controversial moments and backlash and critics, and I’ve learned not to take it personally. That’s the only way you can look at it. You have to accept it and not have a negative attitude. I appreciate them because they’re so passionate as fans.

5. It’s not all black and white. Race played a major part in how my behavior was received, but I think it went beyond that. Would the reaction have been the same if I was clean-cut, without the dreadlocks? Maybe if I looked more acceptable in conservative circles, my rant would have been understood as passion. These prejudices still play a factor in our views because it’s human nature to quickly stereotype and label someone. We all have that.

6. The NFL always wins. Every time a game ends on a controversial call or somebody loses it on camera, it’s free advertising for the NFL. It’s not just my name being talked about on all the shows; it’s the NFL’s logo on all the shows. That means more eyes on the Super Bowl, more clicks for their websites, and potentially more sales of my jersey, for which I don’t see a kickback. Even when they’re taking money out of my pockets with fines, the league is constantly winning.

7. Anonymity isn’t for me. Last season I went to the Super Bowl in New Orleans by myself, took a video crew to Bourbon Street and asked fans who they thought was the best lockdown corner in the game: Richard Sherman or Darrelle Revis. Most of these football fans, who were dedicated enough to go to the Super Bowl, didn’t even know who I was. That’s unique to our sport—the helmets shield our identities. Look at Antrel Rolle, who had one of the best seasons in the NFL for a safety, and he didn’t even make the Pro Bowl until he became an alternate. There’s Alterraun Verner and Aqib Talib, who could really make a case to be first team All-Pro, but weren’t considered because they’re not the loudest players. You’re anonymous until you put yourself out there or show up in a big game. I did both.

8. The violence takes a toll. When you play the game, you can’t go very long without seeing a career or a season end on one play. Running in to each other at full speed is not what God intended for our bodies. Everybody knows the NFL stands for Not For Long, so it plays into how you play and how you behave. We each handle it in our own way. You’ve got to appreciate every moment and treat it like it’s your last. You stay locked-in mentally. When you’re watching that from the outside, sometimes you’re going to see some things you’re not always going to agree with.

9. Pete Carroll is a rock. But I already knew that. After the NFC title game, he sat me down and we talked about the things I could’ve handled better, and he opened my eyes. Then we went about the week before Super Bowl week as if it were any other game week. We didn’t paint the Super Bowl logo on the practice field or anything like that. We stuck with the theme of the program: Every game is a championship opportunity. We’ve been treating it like that for 22 games. He’s been preparing us for this moment so that we wouldn’t even notice we were playing in the Super Bowl.

10. If I could turn back the clock … Maybe I deserved a fine under today’s rules, but back when football was raw and unsanitized, the same things they fined guys for now were the aspects of the game that people loved. The NFL once allowed players to live in the moment and be entertainers. I may have been wrong in my gestures, but if I had to do it all again, I’d probably do some of the same things. It was a big moment, and it was how I felt at the time.
