Does anyone have an aerial comparison of the 2001 track vs. this one?

If so, I'd love to see it. I have a feeling they won't be incredibly similar.

The turns on each side of the start straight were different. Hard to say how different they really were though. The bikes can just do so much more now days.

I was there when Carmichael reeled in MC for the win, if thats the track this one is supposed to replicate, it's a whole lot different.

That was a good read, I totally agree and I've been saying it for a while. The jumps are damn near BMX jumps now. In 2001 you had to really be precise and hit the downsides. Of course that's still true, but you read what the Bomber said, it's not the same now. Why are the bikes better and the tracks weaker?

I'll stop there, great race, great win for Reedy.

No, MC won by like 10 seconds at A1 2001 (this track). They are similar at best. They didn't make it as technical... not even close. Read The Monday Conversation with Reed as said above!

EDIT: BTW, you were thinking of the A3 track in 2001, which was a bitchin' track!

Don't candy coat it, you were on the right track.

It was a great win for Reed, great overall race, several of the top guys showed some positives during the race.

Cheers. That is what I was thinking - I remember the speed being a lot lower and the tracks more technical. Interesting to see that the experts (track builders and riders) feel the same (rather than "it's just the new bikes are that much faster and the riders so much better than they were back then"....)

if the tracks were slower, you'd see the top guys winning by a mile like it used to be...well maybe. 4-strokes have taken away alot of the 'edge' a factory bike once had, IMO
