LOL....it is no different than some celeb taking his / her kids to premieres and publicizing them. It has nothing to do with 'jealously'. I have friends with means who specifically choose to live a lifestyle far far below their means (they once owned their own jet before they had kids) specifically to shelter their kids from the sense of entitlement that sort of lifestyle brings. In other words...they went out of their way to not let their kids know how well off they are. It can be poison. Why do you think so many super successful people start dirt poor. Not all of course...but many...

I find the responses here interesting....ie everyone accusing me of being jealous...which says more about you than me. My question was more along the lines of a sincere interest in the way people develop..based on what I have seen in my life.

Some very good friends of my parents owned a ski resort where I grew up. They had two kids, similar ages to me and my sister. One turned out GREAT. The other is a night mare. Drug addicted...self entitled..just a horrible person...and the genesis of that child's behavior was apparent at a VERY young age from being spoiled by the situation and the high profile at a young age. That stuff matters. It has just been my experience that the more profile and ego building put on a kid at a young age...the more likely it is to blow up.... Of course I know Nothing about 99.999% of Chad's kids life...so I could be jumping to conclusions there...which would be a valid criticism of my comments.
You think you could be "jumping to conclusions" .......................no, you dont say.
I think your opinion is bases on jealousy and envy so it must have a solid foundation.Blush

I don't want anyone telling me what I should or shouldn't with my kids and I'm sure Reed doesn't either. The kid is 3 1/2 years old, he must think it was the coolest thing ever to ride with his dad in front of all those people.

This thread should just be deleted.

Look at the ugly dark side.

I'd rather have my kid with me than leave them with sitters or day care and find out later the scumbags were high or stoned and something happens or they are fondling your kid.

That shit happens far too often. Didn't one of them already say they weren't down with Nannies already?

If so....I back that 100%

Nope, as a father I thought it was cool as hell. You can tell Chad is a great dad

My dad raced cars almost every weekend from when I was 3-6. Those years is what created my obsession with racing. I looked at my dad like he was a super hero. If I wasn't able to go to the track with dad I pitched a fit. I could't imagine doing what Tate did, it would be awesome. He will always look at his dad as a super hero just like I still do and I'm 25 years old.

Is everyone on Vital a damn Psychologist? Tate isn't your kid, and his well being should be that of his parents because the last time I checked they weren't some druggies or people putting their kids in a bad situation. I'm pretty sure the little guy loved every single minute of it sharing the spotlight with his dad and I could only imagine doing something as cool as that with my newborn son in the future.

I don't see any problem with it. The kid won't remember even doing it in a few years.
My son raced the KTM Jr Sx Challenge at Las Vegas when he was 8 and was part of the open ceremonies. He's 14 now and barely remembers doing it.
Although he does remember getting a hug from Erin Bates and "motor boating" her!

He'll race until he burns out and decides to be an interior decorator when he's 23.

Stomp it.

You went from one extreme to the other. I think ideally safe would be watching and admiring your dad from the sidelines with Ellie and instilling the "I wanna be just like dad" . After you plant that seed of him being there and seeing the coolness you hang out with him and talk to him explaining how much work and dedication it takes to achieve that coolness for himself if he chooses to do what dad does. That's the route I'd take over making him a star by association before he's done anything on his own. It's already bad enough that for the rest of his life he will be known as Chad Reeds son FIRST and Tate (whatever that turns out to be) second.

Why do people have to post everything that pops into their head?

Here's the deal. It's time for some heavy moderation. If your post ends up deleted or in the dumbgeon, try and understand why. Some people can sit on the sidelines and let the big kids type.

I'll tell you.

You should treat your kids well, support their interests, teach them manners/responsibility, enable them, let them grow into themselves as critical thinking adults and don't freak out if they aren't what you want them to be.

And most of all teach them tolerance for other opinions, even if they disagree to the point of suggesting a thread be deleted.

Hate me.

Tate won't crack the top ten. The only thing I remember from being three years old is what I can see in photo albums. He is going to have a pretty bad ass childhood. His dad will be retired by the time he hits 30-something and I'm sure Chad will support him in pursuing whatever he wants to until he has to man up and go school like the rest of us.

You guys are just jealous.

This thread is killing me. I don't know how Reed riding around a track with his kid could create such a ruse. . . Shit. It took about :30 of the opening ceremony and it's been picked apart every since. I don't see how Reed including his kid in the opening ceremony could make him a bad father. . .

Sorry, don't have time to hate you, busy getting my kids ready for opening ceremonies.
