Where are you taking classes at? At a local community college it's like a full school year so you can pace yourself. I went through L.A. County Paramedic training institute a long time ago and it was 10 straight weeks of didactic 2 and a half weeks of clinical and 2 months of internship. At times I wondered how the hell I got where I was. I felt like if I missed 1 day I would be behind forever.
You need to be completely free of distractions, job, family, girlfriend/wife stuff because you will need all your focus until you get in the groove of the class. You probably need to be off the bike too as an injury will put you off the class too and I don't know if you can be reinstated after an illness or injury.
I was chasing my dream too and just decided nothing would stop me. I just put my head down and never gave up. I felt the same way 3 years earlier going through the fire academy. Once I got in there was no way I was going home. Both are my greatest personal accomplishments.

It's up in Victorville at Victor Valley college, it is 6 months didactic, clinical and Internship time is the same... That's insane I couldn't imagine 5 days a week, 3 is already gonna be wild, the amount of information learned in such a short while is intimidating.

You do your best, You don't understand something you do it until you get it, unless you have some real learning disability and even then you will be just fine.

if You always try to do your best and stay focused on the end goal you will be fine. You think anyone else in this world is any more special than you ? We all have our talents.

Being scared is a good thing. That means you actually care. Look around when you get to class and know that there Are some there that don't want to be there and will not make it.

There have been many times I thought I was in over my head and ended up out performing those who acted like they already had it in the bag.

Plain and simple I'm afraid to fail and that's enough to keep me near the top of the class.

Yeah, I car pooled from Covina to Torrance for 10 weeks. Had a major block exam the day after Christmas, no 2 week break. I think the new students now go Mon,Tues-Thurs.Friday. In my experience, and I had over 12 interns and reactivating PM's, the internship is the most stressful. There is more pressure you put on yourself and you fell like you are in the twilight zone because people are watching and waiting for you to act. In didactic you have your teaching staff available to you if need extra instruction. If you fail an exam you should get a re-test. When the test comes on a breathing talking person, it's a lot different. If you are an EMT now you should be a little more comfortable with the class. Like others have said, put your head down and stay focused. Keep distractions to a minimum.

Thank you guys... All that is good I esp like using your fear of failure to drive you to the top I'm definitely gonna take that with me may write on the mirror. I'm much better in dealing hands on with things, but am slower to understand when it comes from a book or teaching, but like 500guy said repetition till I can understand. My didactic portion is 3 days Tuesday through Thursday. Thank you all again. Capt moto do you work for LAco Fire dept did they send you through medic school?

hey man, just study what they tell you too, put in the hard work, do your best, have a support group. i went through paramedic school at 19, and i am by no means book smart. if you can't pay attention or retain the knowledge get some adder all. you will thank yourself 4 years later when its 2 am and you remember protocols and drug profiles

Just tap into the part of your mind that WILL NOT give up and let that part run you for a while. I did this in my final year of college: I took 19 units so I could graduate on time, plus I worked 3 full days (8-hr days) at a gas station.
I just accepted that the next 16 weeks were going to be all about sacrifice, I planned my daily schedule down to the 15 minute mark, and I kept my eye on the price. You can't go wrong if you do that and "refuse to lose!"

Ooops! I didn't read the last post by the OP. Congrats!
