I loved the book, and an ashamed to admit that I did not know it had been made into a film until this morning. Not sure how I missed that. Nevertheless, the two trailers I saw look promising. This is a story that needed to be told. Lt. Murphy's self-sacrifice should be forever remembered, and not just him, but all of them.

The movie is awesome! I went to a screening of it about a month ago. I highly suggest going and seeing it, it was good!

Yeah, I read that book years ago, and believe it or not, only recently found they'd made it into a film also! I watched it just a couple of weeks ago on Netflix. I thought the film did a faithful job of recreating the book. SAS are bad boys. I wouldn't want to get into any battle with them or the SEALS. Much respect to Andy and the Bravo Two Zero team.

I haven't read the book. But from what I understand the film is supposed to be incredible. I heard a lot of the promo's and discussions on it via Glenn Beck. The funniest story I heard was: At the end of a meeting with the Hollywood guys, Marcus and his agent had all but wrapped up and the Hollywood guys asked: "Well, do you guys have any other questions?"

Marcus, having been rather quiet through out the meeting as he often is, spoke up in his quiet reserved voice: "I just want to say one thing. If this thing comes out and dishonors a single one of my buddies, I will hunt each and every one of you guys down and kill you. I hope that's understood. That's all I want to say."

Peter Berg is behind this film and he has always seemed to me to be class act.

I'm going to watch the movie first and then read his book. Those guys are the real adrenaline junkies.

Yes,it's true.
He has even mentioned saying it on SOFRep radio. Smile

You see, he didn't want it to be some cheesy film that disrespected their honor ,memories or the SEAL community in general.Typically,when Hollywood get's their hands on these type of stories they fuck them up and they turn out disrespectful.
Zero Dark Thirty would be a good example with all sweeping of each other with lasers during the raid.
It's pretty much a slap in the face to those guys at Green Team and just flat out very disrespectful.
Because they flat out do not do that kind of stuff.They wouldnt be there if they did.
Paying attention to detail and getting it right is important to those guys.


As for the LS film.
One of the issues with it is...
No face paint while on the mission.
But the director just couldnt do it - he wanted people to be able to recognize the faces on the guys(it's Hollywood).
Typically when those guys go on operations like that they are in camo from head to toe....faces ,hands -everything.
So that is one thing they did not get right.
Let's hope everything else is correct out of respect though.

I saw this on 60 minutes a few weeks ago , what a crazy story.

They were out there and a sheep herder stumbles across them , They have to decide to kill them , let them go or tie them up, ultimately they let them go and before long they were in a battle.

This is the case of doing the right thing costing them their life.

I'm honestly not sure I want to know any more or see it played out in a movie.

It's quite a story and he was very lucky to survive.

I think it would be hard for hollywood to get the operational tactics right since they probably aren't allowed any where near these guys when they are training. I thought zero dark thirty was about as close as we will probably see from hollywood. On screen an operation with no talking and no hero lines probably don't make for big ratings.

I don't know, when the one seal was whispering "Usama.... Usama!" as they were trying to lure him out of the room was pretty bad ass. I loved seeing that. Another good one that shows some pretty real tactical scenes was Act of Valor. Incredibly cheesy acting throughout, but the action scenes were tits.

I think according to one of the books they got the son in the stairs like that. I've yet to see act of valor but the book was awesome!

There were plenty of real operators on the set assisting to make sure they got it as right as they could.
They put pressure on the actors,stuntmen & directors ect....

I was able to view a copy of the film last week and it was pretty good.
I recommend seeing it.

Are you talking about in Zero Dark Thirty when they got Khalid to poke his head around the corner by whispering (Khalid,Khalid) and then took him out at the top of the stairs?
That is what really happened - but all the laser shit was massively fucked up and all wrong.
Sweeping each other and stuff was so silly.


Here's a neat little tidbit.
One of the operators that was on that UBL raid is a moto fan and rides a little.
I'm not going to give out his name...but here are some pics of him fooling around.

The book was absolutely insane!! Im not a big reader but i remember the story as i was in Iraq the same time it happened.. The book was the best thing i ever had read with out a doubt!!

I watched 2 HBO specials about the making of the film and interviews with Marcus Luttrell.. He and a couple of other seals helped train these guys so they didn't look like goons when portraying this story!! Also Peter Berg went on some actually combat missions with a seal group for a couple of months so he couldn't get a sense of how truly badass these guys are!!

I Cant wait to see it and i hope it has a major turnout. I wish it would destroy some box office records just to show our appreciation and support but we all know that will never happen!

GO SEE THE FILM!!!!!!!

Just got back from seeing the movie.

Incredible, a must see for all.

Even my wife, who is not at all into "war movies", was really emotional and moved by the movie.

I just got back from seeing this with my wife. We were both in tears at the end. Incredible story putting you right in the hotseat. This movie does not slow down, it's intense from start to finish. I've always had respect for our service men and women, but this brought that respect to a whole new level. Epecially the SEALs, those are some bad ass motherfuckers! No really other way to put it.

See it, you will not be disappointed.
