Have you guys seen the trick work this guy does?
He puts out some amazing stuff
MaxPower: Yes, I have. In fact I have Karl building me a RC replica swingarm for my '86, it's his first for that year and displacement, so it will be a while.
I intend to revisit the restoration of the '86 at some point, I'm going to add the RC replica swingarm, convert it to an '89 clutchcover, add Allen-head fasteners to the engine, "Honda Racing" clutch and ignition covers, 96 footpegs, electro-chemically remove the pipe coating, etc.
There are a bunch of details on that bike I'll end up changing, the more of the restorations you do or are involved with, the more you realize that the earlier work can be done better.
I just got a 88 I'm going to restore. What brand of sprocket is that, and were did you buy it from ?
Also do you or anyone else know if the 87 tank and shrouds will interchange with the 88 ? I would like to make mine look like a 87 , no one seems to make all of the 88 color aftermarket plastic .

UFO make ALL the plastic for a 1987 and the Rad Shrouds, Front & Rear Fender, Front number plate and probably shock guard from a 1987 will fit a 1986. The only plastic not available for a 1986 are side panels. You can get Maier but I wouldn't bother or DC but they are not "Show" quality, only good if you want to race the bike. The sprocket looks like a Sunstar Works Triplestar, easily available in the USA.
I'm 99% sure the 87 tank will go on the 88. UFO make all plastic for the 88 if you want to keep the darker red.
If you can't get UFO in the US you can get it easily in the UK or Italy

If I can get all of the plastic for the 88 from UFO in the darker Fighting Red then I will keep it that color, because I really like the shape of the tank and shrouds on it . Check out this picture, ( this is not my bike, mine is in really bad shape)
That UK importer also do a lot of it in white and black. If you're stuck I'm sure they will send to you in the USA.
That bike in the photo looks like it's in England judging by the garden, house style and weather!

I tried giving you a call. I'm going to do my radiators after this weekend but should be ok. The guy rode the bike a couple of times before he lost interest. I will get with you at Oak Hill and get a list of what you ordered for the crankcase.

I'm rebuilding my old custom bike now, '87 CR250 frame with XR305cc engine in it! The old '87 CR suspension IS awesome.
I want to copy your new wheels, exactly! I messaged you already for more details..

The 92-96 rear hub is much lighter and is the same dimensions as the 87 so it's basically a bolt on. You need to use the 87 spacers with it. I also used the 96 axle and aluminum chain adjusters blocks (87 had steel adjuster blocks). You need to cut them down to fit in the narrower swingarm opening but it's worth it. All told it's nearly two lbs lighter and all unsprung weight. The hub is 32 spoke whereas the 87 was 36 spoke so you'll need the 92-94 18" or 96 and up 19" rim as well. The 87 front hub and spokes work with all current versions. Lots of current CRF rims are available cheap and you could send them off to TCR or another anodizing shop to get that light gold color that the 87 CR's had.

Called Pro Circuit and they discontinued the stamps to make them
