It looked like it did but it doesn't always have to be direct impact. His head whipped around so violently that he could have had the shaken baby syndrome. I'm pretty sure it will be kept under tight wraps.
Under "mechanisms" this says it can happen with acceleration or deceleration injuries absent impact.

First thing I said to my wife was he's out cold. Just IMO obviously. I've taken a few dirt naps, two of which I know for certain I was out and another I swore I wasnt out but according to those around I was out for over a minute. To this day I still argue over that one.

I doubt they'll release anything any time soon. These days teams keep their rider's injuries pretty hush-hush so as not to give competition any unfair advantage in the confidence department.

You guys should go listen to Doc Bodners interview on PulpMX. He did the interview right after all you armchair doctors were commenting on Zach Bell's crash. Dr. B is the EXPERT on this...because no sport has more concussion events in competition than MX. More even than the NFL. Doc has the most well tested and proven evaluation procedure for this stuff. One thing he stresses...is you NEVER base your decision on how the crash looked.

Recall Zach Bell...how everyone thought he was out. Well...there is no fooling the Docs and the tests riders have to go through before they can return to the track. Zach was NOT OUT last year...even though he sat still. What Doc stated...is that 75% of the time you go to a rider who is sitting dead still..and get in his face...and he is wide awake...and just afraid to move. They know the med crews...the Docs...and they know help is on the way...so they just sit still. This comes straight from Doctor B...who has literally been 1st on site...the guy first talking to the rider...THOUSANDS of times. He is probably the only one on the planet qualified to make generalizations about what a rider sitting still means. According to him..it means NOTHING. So I am going to call RMTs comments as nonsense...and believe Doctor Bodner. Zach was dead still...and the instant the medical crew said something to him...he responded...without moving. He then tested out fine on the neuro exam...so he was allowed to ride...because the neuro exam tells the tale. So...just because RV did not move...means nothing.

There have been plenty of situations where the opposite occurred. A crash looked like nothing..they did the neuro eval...and the rider failed...and was not allwed to return. This happens far more often than we know. When you watch a race on TV...what you dont see is all the practice. All the semi pro guys that dont make the race...and all the guys that crash out in practice. The Docs and med crew are there for all that. There are 5x as many crashes throughout the whole event..than you ever see shown on TV..and the med crews see all of them. You do not. Again..go listen to Docs interview...you might learn something.

The only people that really know if RV took a hit...are RV, his people...and the medical crew / physicians that administered the Neuro eval. Perhaps he was not allowed to return...because he DID take a hit. Who knows. But to make conclusions based on how the crash looked is nonsense.

To me...that hit did not look that bad from a concussion standpoint...but again...the neuro eval is what tells you what really happened. When you impact flat slippery ground...your speed does not really matter...it is your height that determines the severity of the impact. I would be more concerned about the shoulder. That looks like the type of impact that would result in an AC joint separation.

Not knocked out just severely fucked up. It happens too the best of them. Remember zach bells crash? He looked dead but he was just chilling.

Exactly.

It is the height that matters. The impact is determined by the velocity perpendicular to the ground. It rises with the square of the height. By all your armchair diagnosis...Emma McFerren should be dead...

That was probably 2.5 times higher than RV...so the impact was probably about 6 times as great....

FYI....she was OK...but I think you can safely conclude without a Neuro eval...that there was some brain truma on that one! I think she also broke her clavicle

That is a load of bull. I was knocked out for approximately 2 minutes and once awake, had almost no effects. Neither the dr nor the paramedics could not tell I had been knocked out.

The next day I had massive headaches if I elevated my heart rate, but the night of the concussion I had no effects.

I have yet to see any person, in any sport get knocked down and lay 100% motionless and not be knocked out. Only a total fuktard would be afraid to move even 1 millimeter.

In addition to having your AMA Pro license, before you can enter a SX or Pro National, you have to do a neurological examination. This is your baseline test and establishes neurological response norms for YOU. It is specific to each rider. When you crash at an AMA pro event, if there is any chance you hit your head at all.... you have to do another test. It is very involved. The reason the docs could not tell you had a concussion was that you had no baseline to compare to. So you are demonstrating your ignorance here.

If you had been a pro rider...and taken that hit...you would have failed the exam...and not been allowed to ride.

Dr. John Bodner developed this entire regime in conjunction with state of the art diagnosis techniques. It is beyond what even the NFL even does...and that is because he personally probably sees more concussions that any doctor ON THE PLANET because he has devoted thousands and thousands of hours (30 years) to supporting the sport he loves. During his years as a SX and MX track doctor he has seen and diagnosed hundreds...maybe even thousands of concussions, almost all within minutes or seconds of the incident, making him somewhat of an expert with regard to concussions. The everyday ER doc does not see 1/10th what he sees....and when they do see it, it is usually hours after it happens...not minutes or seconds.

So...only a 'fucktard' would call John Bodner a liar. You need to go listen to his interview. Either that..or you can go on being ignorant.
