I have a 01 rm 250 with a fmf pipe and silencer. I am jetted to the specs on the fmf web site which are 158 main and 48 pilot. I installed a v-force delta 2 reed valve today now i have a bog from idle. The bike runs good in the mid and high rpm range. I can find no info on the web for jetting specs for the delta 2 reed valve. I am thinking i might be lean now because of the extra air flow but i am not sure if being lean causes a bog in the lower rpm range. Can someone lead my in the right direction to start rejetting? I am not sure if i have a lean condition or if something else is causing the bog. Also i have little to no spooge and my elevation is 1900 ft. thanks for any help.

You need to do some jetting runs and read the sparkplug. You also might check the float level and you never mentioned the air mixture screw adjustment.

sorry. the air screw is at 1.5. is there a guide somewhere that shows the different plug colors to help me on judging my jets?

I believe you find that on YOU TUBE along with other helpful video's. Have you adjusted the air screw properly? or just set it my the book? The air screw can tell if you need a larger or smaller pilot jet. Are you running pump gas? The gas companies change the blend of many gases from spring/summer to fall/winter and can change the jetting or how your bike runs. Are you running the same 2 stroke oil and same ratio?

Try this, get bike warmed up, grip throttle and twist and hold to get rpm's up over idle, run air screw in all the way, back it out until rpm's start to waiver and pick up, just past that point turning the screw out the rpms will take off, quit gurgling and rev freely. That should be optimal setting. See if it bogs at that setting. Count the turns, if it is 3/4 you need a bigger pilot, 2 and you need a leaner pilot.

I did a little research last night and found that write up about adjusting the air screw the proper way. My adjustment was by the book. I am going to do this this week. I am running pump gas right now but i plan to run a 50/50 mix of no ethanol 93oct and 100oct leaded air plane fuel from my local airport. My premix oil is the same as always. its the motul brand. i will look at the videos on sparkplug colors on youtube. thanks for the help i have a better understanding of what's going on now.

You don't need that high an octane fuel. It burns slower and will give you confused slow speed jetting. Go back to straight 93 octane fuel and try that before you start changing jets. Also you did not state what your fuel oil mix was. It should be at 32:1..
If you are running a 40:1 mix you will also be rich .

my mix is 32:1. I have never heard that high oct fuel burned slower. thanks for that info. i have not ran any 100/93 mix yet i was just planning to to do it in the future. i will stay with the 93 and see how this jetting goes.
