I'm so glad that NOBODY ever got hurt on 125 and 250 2 strokes.

Holy Smokes! How on earth were they able to put on Nationals for almost 40 years before MxSports & DC came around?

While MXSports is doing a decent job with the Nationals, let's not anoint them quite yet shall we?

Sorry DC, but some of your minions are just loony.

Well, from the beginning, from the very start in the USA, it was Dave Coombs Sr.
that pioneered many of the venues, and races, that came to be what we now call The Outdoors.

Tell me, my friends, out of 7 billion people, who else has that pedigree?
Who else has stepped up to the plate and devoted his life to the sport on a National level?
Who has the knowledge, the contacts, the plain gumption to take Coombs Jr.s job?

Tell me, I want to know.

And while you're at it, explain why the guy that runs Youthsream has no peer?
Is Loungo the only guy in all of Europe that can get things done?
don't you know once you have a great gene pool...you must add a mut to become a stronger gene pool.. yes an out door fall series without dc and friends..would be key to the better. This sport needs it badly...I have many ideas.

So, the answer is no, you don't know of anyone better for the job.

You have many ideas, who doesn't?
What set's you and your many ideas apart from the other 7 billion?

You want to see a sport that needs something, or somebody?

How about American Roadracing?
Observed trials?
Dirttrack?
Motorcycle Drag Racing?

The only 2, no, make that 3, that seem to be doing okay
are Supercross, XGames and GNCC.
And Coombs is in on the last one also.

Freakin' guys, all talk and ideas, but do nothing.Laughing

I think a way to solve the problem is make the lites class in AX 125's and superminis and the premeir class 250's two and four. Some of the top amatuers trying to go to LL ride two strokes so it makes since. I bet more people would show up to race and watch if they did it this way.

I think a 2-stroke series would be great even if it starts out on a wing and a prayer. Start small and build big only problem is theres a lot of work to do before the drop of the gate on race day and if no rider's show up because their not being paid enough...IS THIS TRUELY what mx has turned into. Our sanction body cheated every rider 2-stroke and 4-stroke on the track by unfair rule's. The bike manufacture's just stopped making them and we all know the list of a-hole's who helped do this.

It's time to realize some thing's WE DON'T NEED THEM everything it take's to make the bike's, track's, etc has all been done before. There's a guy on thumpertalk riding 1992 mugen motor and I bet it's competitive today so a lot of the technology has been here a long time. I think it's time to find out were the biggest concentration of 2-stroke rider's are and find track's that make it easy to gather those rider's together and regrow the greatest powered sport in the world.

One more thing any rider who put's the amount of money they get to ride mx ahead of mx SUCK'S. I'm a purist if your racing bike's for money and not the love of the sport I don't like it. I think most of us people who pay for our bike's, work on our bike's know this, but it seem's at the pro level they need money to ride instead of love of riding. If this is true all the year's I dreamed of being a pro motocrosser were a waste cause they don't have enough heart for me..... Crazy Rooster125

Don't be naive, hardly any of these guys make money. What they make at an event almost entirely goes towards getting them and their bikes to the next round. You simply can't expect these kids to follow any sort of series around the country on their own dime because they don't have it. Between gas, equipment, parts, and entry fees even a moderate series would cost you north of 10,000 dollars out of your own pocket, and that's assuming you start with a competitive bike and effective transportation.

Dude all athletes are over paid. The truth is for what a motocrosser does their under paid compared to other athletes. Rider's use to race motocross for the love of the sport not money. I understand to race a national series it takes money, but do you remember Guy Cooper that guy and many other's raced on their own dime sure they wanted to be one of the few to make a living at mx and some succeed and some don't. I've never been paid a penny to race and i never let my little amount of money decide to stop me from riding.

I hope a 2-stroke series happen's and it's got enough backing to have good purse's to encourage rider turnout, in the end if I had what it take's to win pro mx I don't know if you would have to pay me I'd do it just to say I'm the best 2-stroke rider. Heck I'd pay you...Here's hopeing for a 2-stroke series' even if it start's off regionally..... CrazyRooster125

I dunno......................if there was a series, full of tit's and ass, and a ton of party on Saturday night (2 day events for sure),
if it was a wild happening, wet tshirts and pukeing all around, along with some racing, that alone would grab a ton.

Like it used to.

How long before the political correct, and the cops, and the insurance companies, and the safety police would let
it go on, that's another thing.

Yes if only there were a series that offered thousands in purse money, a big name title sponsor and contingency from all the brands.

An AMA sanctioned series that could assign Pro-Am points towards securing a Pro racing license.
In say 5 different locations around the country.

With Live streaming audio and video of the racing for free......if only that existed.

http://www.motocrossleagueofamerica.com/

• Over $30,000.00 in pro purse
• Three Pro/Am points classes offered
• Pro/Am points paid to 250cc, 450cc and Open Pro

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Holeshot Awards
Fly Racing Bucks

Oh and it runs Sept - Nov.....

Not sure about a separate series, sounds expensive. Maybe the AMA/MX Sports (or someone else) could run a Sunday program with two stroke events on the same weekend as the Nationals. Run a 125cc, open and an experimental class where anything goes; 2/4 stroke, electric, rotary, diesel , steam etc. Tracks will have been prepped and maybe only need some touch-up, porta-cans in place, food vendors present , etc.? I could really get into that!

May need to provide some secluded motorhome parking and guy fawkes masks so the pro's who want to stay over and race can do so incognitoSmile

I'm surprised that mxsports and other track promoters haven't brought the 4 stroke national series back to life again. The series did well throughout the 90s and early 2000s, delivering factory and privateer talent to local tracks across the east and west coast. The series provided racers another source of income and a great way to stay in shape during the off season. I think at one time during its peak years, the AMA would bring in the champions and present them with an award during the AMA banquet. The last year I raced the series was in 2006 and I did notice that tracks within the series had to support the $10,000 purse and I feel it did do some damage toward some track owners that year. I feel a few track owners bank on riders showing to help assist on minimizing as much out of pocket money they can, in which sometimes can backfire. Bad checks and misleading payouts are pretty consistent throughout big purse events. Although, it should be up to the track owners to attract outside sponsorship to cover their advertised payouts. Mike Kidd did a great job promoting the bookoo Ax, but leading up to the 2007 series,. Bookoo switched ownership and the new owners pulled out last minute. Furthermore, leaving Kidd stuck having to pay out of pocket. The riders got paid a reasonable amount and they did not have to pay to race. Something that should be done throughout any professional series. During these tough economical times, it would be a instability chance on a new series profiting or even breaking even on a transaction without proven stability from outside sponsors. I'm a retired professional racer and now a freshmen in college, so I'll just back up and be another face in the crowd. Smile

I know this is sort of a pipe dream but its something ive thought about often for quite awhile. like many of others ive talked to over the past few years im not all that happy with the current outdoor series that MX Sports and the AMA are running. I along with so many others feel that something was lost when the rules were changed allowing four strokes a greater displacement advantage over two stroke. just go to any message forum and the topic of four stroke vs two stroke is brought up over and over. its pretty obvious that most fans want a level playing field in regards to displacement but MX Sports and the AMA claim that the will lose funding from the manufactures. so the question is, what would it take to start an alternative outdoor series without MXSports, the AMA, and the manufactures involvement? could a series survive with funding from the bike manufactures? I certainly don't have the capabilities to do this but there has to be people in the industry that do. what do you guys think?
It's a tough situation man I tried to start a 2 stroke nationals series a few years back and had some great tracks on board including south wick, freestone, redbud. I knew with the right riders the fan turnout would be huge I mean who doesn't want to see a top 5-10 pro rip a smoker? but to get those guys out you have to have a pretty massive payout to make it worth their time/risk/money and even with all the support I had from some really great people including Erv Braun, Matt Shoe and Tony from freestone we still couldn't pull it all together it was a huge bummer too because I sunk a lot of time and was willing to sink in a lot of my own money but I'm only one man I couldn't pay the purse at an 8 round series out of pocket. and getting sponsors to throw out cash without having guaranteed top pros at your races is nearly impossible. On the other hand with out having guaranteed cash from sponsors getting top pros to your races is also nearly impossible its a never ending cycle. But if you think you can do it go for it for sure and you never know it could work out a lot better for you than it did for me

Sorry to hear that kripple, but the factories rule.

These days, we ride what they want you to ride.

Be it in the advertizing, fringe classes like the old 4 stroke Nationals, heck, even if they have to slant the rules,
whatever it takes.

Gotta give it to them, they know how to work it.

And before the masses go ballistic, it is what it is.
Nothing wrong with running what's available at the time.

20 years from now, the electric crowd will be telling us how good their stuff is,
'cause the guy from General Electric said so.

The key is in running a series where you can ride what you want.....

1.1 MLA rider classification will be as follows:

a) 50cc 4-8
b) Youth 65cc-250cc (7 yrs – 16 yrs)
c) Amateur 122cc – Open (14 yrs – 24 yrs)
d) Vet 122cc – Open (25 + years)

Million dollar payout this weekend.

Alessi, reed, and several other top 20 riders won't be there.

Wouldn't expect anything in the US as long as MXSports is not on the boat, but I think there might be a opening in Europe with the new 300 two stroke class, it's not a GP event, but they guy everybody loves to hate, Luongo is pretty anxious/desperate to get things spinning, and seems pretty fearless towards the OEMs (in interviews at least?). So if that class gets momentum spiced with the EMX 125 series, some of us might get what we feel is missing in racing... That could spread to your neck of the wood...

One can hope at least...
