Anyone buy a bike through Costco?

I've heard a few guys on Vital getting good deals on KXF450s through that program and they were happy with it.

Yeah, but since it is Costco you have to buy them in an eight-pack.

Go support your local shops.

Around here the Local shops are pretty much gone and the Super Stores are the only option, I'm sure the bikes get brokered through local channels just like the Cars.

I get my bikes from Big Lenny. He finds them in alleys

It's all ATVs, side by sides and cruisers here. And good luck trying to find any gear, boots, helmets, etc. If they do have any they are usually never from this decade. I'm not as sure about the dealers in northwest Arkansas so I don't want to speak out of turn. And there is one in Little Rock that always has the newest KTMs, but aside from that it's pretty slim pickings.

I laugh every time I see a kx 450f in costco. I wonder how many normal guys buy the bike not knowing how powerful it is.

My brother in law said (sales mgr at Kawi dealer) if he was a buyer he would go to Costco.

Put it on the roll around cart like a big screen TV , go home , terrorize the neighborhood for 3 minutes take ride to ER from nutting himself.

Costco has a deal with Kawasaki (and maybe other brands.)

There is pre-arranged pricing on all motorcycles and it's pretty darn good.

You don't buy the bike through costco, you go to a Kawi dealer who is set up with costco. They print the rebate form for you to send to costco via email that proves you purchased the bike. In two weeks you get a $250 costco card. I didn't know it existed, my dealer mentioned it and said he would give me the 2013 KXF250 for $6,000OTD and I got the $250 costco bringing the price down to $5750. I've heard some dealers won't drop the price that low and give the costco rebate but give it a shot.

So what is the Costco price on a KX450f

You still have to go to your local dealer to pick it up. You don,t roll it out of Costco. It is just a prearranged deal.

The Fontana Costco KX450 has John Burr Cycles stickers on it. JBC happens to be a real good local dealer.

I really try very hard to support my local dealers, but man, they make it tough. Every time I need a random part, I honestly call as many as 6-8 local dealers (spending literally 30-60 min on hold) and they seldom, if ever, have my part in stock. After exhausting every dealer, for something every one of them should have in stock (like a clutch cable for a popular bike), I go to MotoSport. Sure, the dealer can order it, but it costs more and is not delivered to my door. I have always been willing to pay more for the convenience and to support my local dealer, but if Costco has my clutch cable, i'm on my way.

I quit reading this thread at "support your local shops" and honest to God, my first 2 thoughts were 1) my local dealer can EAD and 2) when I lived in SoCal, John Burr was my hookup and were very good about making a bike purchase a 2 way affair, I knew they needed to make some money and they knew I wanted to save some money. Very fair and honest crew when I bought from them, 3 bikes over my years. They were always big supporters of the Dealer Series at GH as well. Then I finished the thread and was like damn, capt read my mind

We try to buy all my son's stuff at North County Yamaha. He will not consider riding anything but a Yamaha. Sometimes there are exceptions but in general they are the "go to guys" for us. The last bike we bought was actually a new out of date YZ125 another dealer had in stock (an advertisement I saw). I went to NCY owner and asked him his thoughts about getting close to the price and he gave his blessing to the outside purchase. It's not about just one purchase though, We have had a good relationship for close to 20 years. Sometimes it's something as simple as them staying late so we can run down and get a much needed part. We have bought countless, boots, helmets, oil, race gas, parts, more parts, and more parts, (did I mention he used to ride a 250F). So while they have earned the opportunity to get my business, they also don't expect me to pay way above what they could sell it for.
