you could also turn it into a career site for the sport. once you build it, it's built so just let the rest evolve on it's own. right now I doubt a lot of MX sport talent - riders, mechanics, drivers, managers, sportscasters, etc. go to indeed.com to view opportunities. why not include this as a separate page to the site?

That's a really good idea and could drive a lot of traffic.

Thanks for the idea!

-Build a nice (professional) resume
-Race a lot
-Ask

That's what I did...I'm not even fast...and got some great sponsorships from some great companies.

Granted, because I'm not fast (Vet B rider in the desert)...I wasn't getting FREE product, but I was able to get some significant discounts on products that I use and like. (Anything to help subsidize the cost of racing/riding.)

Oh, and most companies have an "application period" (usually sometime between October/November and the end of the year).
This is very good advice. You must have a resume that includes your current and past results and achievements. Also include your racing goals for the upcoming season. Include any and all current sponsors that u have. It is a great idea to include how you give back to the sport, such as help younger racers and include yourself as a volunteer at local track events while promoting your current sponsor's products. Remember that any company that helps you is doing so to sell more of their product. Your job as a sponsored racer is to help do so. You don't have to be a Nat'l Champ to have good companies help you out. Although it is true that a few of the major top companies only help the top racers in the country. (won't mention names)

Hey Everyone,
I’m a longtime fan of motocross and have followed the sport since the 70’s. When I raced in the 70’s – 90’s it was hard finding good sponsors so I was wondering what would you guys need to help you get more sponsors from businesses inside and outside the industry and what options do you currently use?

How do you guys get sponsors? Hookit?

Would your own website help you with getting sponsorship's?

I have been looking into building websites for mx racers that would show potential sponsors who you are and what your about along with pics, goals, accomplishments, sponsor links etc.. for a while now. I have a system down pretty good so I could build a real nice site for around $30 - $50 per year. Obviously you would supply the pics and copy. Once your site was finished you could then e-mail potential sponsors with a link to your site.

Is this something that is needed? Would this help?

Thanks - Baxter Blue

Get yourself an enclosed trailor. That's worth a lot to sponsors.

Learn how to make computer graphics (photoshop etc, not bike graphics) and edit video, and how social media works.
Buy a gopro and a smart phone and a computer.
Upload valuable content as often as possible to social media.
