They've already jacked up the footprint part in typical Mythbuster fashion. It's not "moon sand" it's "moon dust". Duh! Use a substance like what is on the moon instead of sand which isn't on the moon. Talc would be a much closer substance. Not only that but Talc that was piled up in 1/6 the gravity of Earth. The dust would be much more loosely packed than on Earth and I would expect a footprint just like in the pictures.

I missed them, just turned it on when they were making the footprints. It's funny that now they are using portland cement to match the moon dust for the next experiment. Why didn't they use that portland cement for the footprint? I am sure you would get the proper footprint in that too.

I would think we went to the moon but, I find it interesting to listen to all the tails. I'll let you know if it's all real in about 10 years, my son wants to work at NASA so, maybe I'll be in the know!

I saw that last segment and I must say I thought this was one of the best episodes I have seen them do (from the pieces I did see). Well, that is until I found out they actually hoaxed the entire thing. They filmed the entire episode on a sound stage constructed in the Mythbusters warehouse. They never left it's confines.

Try and find a copy of the documentary "Dark side of the moon" by director William Karel.

I can't say anymore about it. You have to watch it. It's worth tracking down. When you're finished watching it, you'll want your kids to see it.

It also goes by the name Operation Lune as it was originally filmed in french.

We went before-no doubt. There are plenty of documentaries and films of the guys going up there in space. Buzz Aldrin and the other astronauts get pissed when they are confronted with that question.

One documentary I watched recently followed the astronauts on the mission-real footage from control room and inside the Apollo. One astronaut was talking about how he was dissapointed about being second to step on the moon but was cool and joking about what he would say. It happened people-just conspiracy theorists that want to say we never did.

I posted a story on the old site when this subject came up a few years ago about a satellite that should be close enough to the moon within a couple of years that will have the ability to take photos of the moon rover and other stuff we left behind. I'll have to do a search and see if that is still going to happen.

I was in the navy recovery fleet for the first 2 moon missions. Nixon stayed aboard our ship cause it was a big deal. Actually saw the splashdown from a few miles away of Apollo 10. If it was faked it was a bangup job.

Not having trouble getting back, those missions were just suspended because there is no reason to go back. They have done all thier test they wanted to do and cost wise, there is no reason to return.
