I really don't understand this argueing over here. Some posts by american fans are great. Telling Marc he did great, telling Marc it was nice to have him. Other posts are not so great. But also the answer given by some of the european fans are not so nice either. What is all this fuss actually about ?

Marc came to Southwick looking for a good time. We never said he was going to win. We hoped for a top 5 finish and in moto 1 Marc did fantastic. In moto 2 it was not so good but at least he gave it a shot. The heat and humidity were the problem according to Marc. Maybe, maybe not. Maybe Marc blew all his energy in moto 1. Who cares. We had a great time, not ? And i think Marc had a great time as well.
I saw 2 things.
1. Marc is fast, but not consistent enough. That's why Marc is only on P10 in the world championships standings. He crashes out to much. Hopefully Marc can work on that and improve his results in the future.
2. A top 10 rider in the world championship can ride inside the top 10 in AMA races.

Is the AMA series faster ? I doubt it...
Is the euro series faster ? I doubt it....
Is the depth of the series better in America ? I doubt it..
Is the depth of the series better in Europe ? I doubt it..
Did Marc want to prove anything ? Not at all

There are 2 great series on this world. I for one enjoy both of them. It was great what Marc did. There was no racing going on over here in Europe and Marc gave us euro guys a race to watch. And Marc gave you guys an interesting race as well (at least an interesting first moto lol)

He came over from Europe just to race 1 national for fun. Then he is second in practice behind JS, gets 3rd after a not so good start in the first race and all he gets is bullshit, even from the commentators, what a bunch of bad losers you guys are.

For an example, look at race two, Dowd 5th, Hamblin 6th WOW, your level is really high.

Like I siad, I hope he doesn't go back to the US ever, het diserves much more.

First of all there Captain Kook, when did I ever "struggle to qualify for a GP? Second who the F&*$ are you to discredit Dowd? He may be old but that guy has great talent in the sand and everywhere else for that matter. Marc and I both started nearly the same both Motos, you know the start is part of the races right?? He moved up more so in the first than I did obviously but its not like Ferry, Goerke and myself were too far off. Second Moto I was right with him when he went down and thought that it was great to have him come over on his own dime and race. He IS one of the best sand riders there is. So before you go all agro on everyone and trying to call people out for things that are irrelavent I think you should pump your brakes and slow down those quick little typing fingers before posting such BS!!

thanks sean, i thought it was cool of Marc to come over mix it up with you guys too. But have say that watching Dowd ride around as smooth as he does was amazing.

dont understand this fuss,

i saw 2 good moto's yesterday, i like it when people like dowd do good, also i enjoy seeing that people like hamblincan get back up after probably a bad time in europe, not enough time of getting used to and all that which shows bad results, he goes back to the US and gets a (deserved) factory ride after a couple of races. i think thats great, a factory rider going privateer, still proves he can do it and gets a factory ride in return.

i think what happened to marc in the 2nd heat is result from going deep in the first race, in conditions he's not used too. u guys say it wasn't so hot or humid, but for euro guys it is!

i'm just glad Marc did well and if he has a decent time to prepare, like a month or 2 i think he's a podium conteder in the AMA every week (mx that is), his speed was good, in both motos, so he can do it, some time getting used too and he would be top 5 rider for sure!

what was the name of that guy who won the gp in mx2 at leirop?

that's just another example that there are sand specialists. Marc, John Dowd, Stewart, RC, etc.
Not everyone is fast at aevery kind of track.
To discount the level of riders in the US based on Dowd finishing 5th is not accurate.

say what you want but 30 min motos are for pussys and girls.

45 min should be the way...oh well.
wait wait wait.

If Marc was so tired after moto 1, to where he couldn't even finish his 2nd moto. How is 30 mins pussy?

If you remember when Hamblin left the USA he was not a constant top 10 rider... He came back and worked his ass off to be where he is, don't discredit him.

OK, the pressure is off, I can think reasonable again, I guess...
You struggled in Spain last year, but I know there was mud, rain and timepractice on sunday, so let's forget about that. Sorry for starting about that!
Second, I don't discredit Dowd, I just think that if a 43 year old can finish fifth, all the young guys behing him should be a shame of thereselfs. Not that Dowd isn't fast, but at his age he can't be fitter than the guys who are half his age.

But to go back to the beginning of this crap, I really can't understand why people here are talking so much bullshit about a guy who has the guts to travel across the pond to race in Southwick. He was really honest in all interviews and didn't say anything wrong, as far as I know/saw/heard. And if guys are talking so much BS about him afterwards I get really pissed, and still am a little.
So when I typed 'I hope he doesn't ever go back to the US' I really meant that, and still do. Why spend all the money and time to race a National if peolple treat you like shit? Have you been treated this way in Europe, Sean? And I don't mean just the guys on the messageboards, the things Jason Weighant, Trey Canard and more said on Speed were just insulting and very disrespectfull to Marc. He diserved much more than that, period!

Most of us like and admire Marc, it's just his jackass fans like you that stir up so much hostility.
