Every time we talk # of championships and wins, I am blown away when I'm reminded at just how far Ricky Carmichael has set himself above others. Truly the GOAT of moto, if there ever was somebody deserving of that title.

As for the hypothetical who's better game?

I'd like to see 2005 Carmichael vs 2008 Stewart vs 2013 Villopoto race Glen Helen. That would be an absolute barn burner. I'd probably take 08' Stewart. Cool

'08 Stewart, really???

You'd take James, who won a 450 MX title only against a field with Alessi(who got hurt) and Ferry, basically Ferry being his main competition!!!

Over RICKY, who won against ALL competitors, including James for TEN years straight... UP!

And over Villipoto who has won against ALL competitors, thus far, except RC.

I see a knock down drag out brawl with RC and RV with RC coming out on top(he always did) with both gapping James.

Also, I believe RV of '09 Glen Helen was every bit of RC's speed and would have worked over any year James Stewart.

Remember folks, this is bench racin', I'm not out to piss on anyones parade... jmo Wink
And who did Ricky race against that really stood a chance? No one.
What about 2011 when RV was getting stomp on by RD and a washed up CR. RV only won that title because of unfortunate happening with RD(mechanicals) and CR(Millville crash). I think RV only won 3 nationals to RD & CR 4 each!
And even this year, who is really his comp beside maybe RD on that KTM, JS who has a torn ACL and hasn't raced nationals since 2008, JB who's a rookie, and TC who's basically a rookie to.

In 2009 it took RV till over the halfway point to pass Alessi in both moto's at GH and Grant was giving him fits until his rear brake went out, but you think he was as fast as RC in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me what your smoking bro......... In fact I don't think RV had the fastest laps that day Alessi did(which means nothing but how many times was Alessi faster then Bubba or RC ah never),2008 James took care of Alessi by the first turn and it wasnt until Round 3 were someone other than him led a lap and then he decided to jump the whole damn straight away to pass for the lead. This is 2013 and RV is clearly the man on most surfaces but the way you try and discredit James constantly is ridiculous!

Also when RV had a bad knee he was running around 15th at hangtown maybe you should think about that.......

For someone once dubbed "FMOTP", and "greatest to ever throw a leg over" with "most naturally talented ever" to have 9 YEARS Pro('05 thru '13) and... ONE 450 Title... I'm not trying to discredit him at all. That speaks for itself.

Tell you what though... I won't post in regards to James for the rest of 2013, in case your point is valid Wink

You say One title like its not a big deal and that they are easy to achieve... the battles that RC and Bubba had are the best of all time IMO, In one MX season James beat Ricky more than the entire motocross world did from 2002 to 07 that's saying something in its self.

Which season Park Boys? In 07 Stewart beat RC in 3 motos. In 06 Stewart beat RC in 4 motos (5 if you count GH 2nd moto which RC didn't race in). In 2003 RC lost 5 motos to Windham and 1 moto to Ferry. In 05 RC lost a moto to Reed and a moto to Windham.

Well! Ryan Villopoto hasn' been the same Speedwise, since his crash of 2010 when he blew his leg to pieces. I would venture to say that Ryan Villopoto has sustained more serious injuries than James Stewart ever has, so the injury thing is a mute point. Ryan Villopoto is simply the superior rider and is Faster and a better racer than James Stewart ever was. The titles and whe whoopin he's been puttin on him this year proves that. If James Stewart tries to step up his speed to RV's, He crashes, because he's racing over his Head. He crashed when he tried to run RIcky Carmichaels pace all the time and it's the same with Ryan Villopoto. When Bubba had his perfect season outdoors, he could race at a comfortable pace with no Pressure, because Mike Alessi was his closest competitor, throw in a RC or RV and the Yard sales start for James Stewart, simple as that
