2014 AX Lites Team Needs your help

Edited Date/Time 7/17/2013 6:28am
I know a lot of people come on here and beg for money but we are not going to beg. We are going to add swag and cool things to give away for the 2014 AX Lites East Series. We need to raise $22,000.00 by October 31st. I Know that seems like a lot but every donation over $50 gets you in the drawling for Pro Rider Jerseys such as Tommy Hahn (Factory Honda 2007), Stephene Roncada (Factory Kawasaki), Greg Schnell (Yamaha of Troy), and Brandon Jesseman (Bills Pipes). There is also the "Be VIP" Program that we are starting but cannot give the date just yet because the schedule is not out.
Let me tell you a bit about our team. We are a team based out of Dayton, Ohio and our riders are Logan Pfleiderer and Kenny Henry. We are racing in the east lites AX Series and we are also doing all east coast AX Class.
Our website is www.trentmanracing.webs.com (that is where you can make your donation) and if you would like to talk to me (team manager) you can always email me at btrentmanracing@aol.com.
We hope some of you will help and gang swag and Pro Jerseys while at it.

Your web site is very professional looking, but why aren't you contacting corporate sponsors rather than asking for donations? In your own words: ""Welcome to Trentman Racing, one of the premier teams in the AX Circuit" or should we expect TUF Racing to post for help?

Tuf ended up pulling funds from AX. We have tried for a big sponsor but because it is not possible for us to go out west that limits the market. The one $$$ Sponsor we may get is pulling our chains and I do not want to have to pull out because of a sponsor deciding it is a no go. I have dumped all the money I can into the team and now I have to get a major sponsor or ask for donations. I understand what you are saying, but we are just not asking for Donations we are also giving out different things.

Apparently some of the good folks on this forum have determined that it is wrong for a 16 year old aspiring Pro to solicit funds for an upcoming National on the interwebs and social media, we will just have to wait for them to weigh in on the appropriateness of a Team doing it.

I have to disagree with xnationalwrench, your website isn't professional looking. It looks like a free website someone hacked together and for me that is a no....It immediately makes me doubt that my money isn't going to this team and some guy who wants to scam someone.

If I was trying to attract Corporate sponsors too, I would never even tell them I have a website with that.

Why don't you shoot me an email man reyoldesign@gmail.com and maybe I can line you up with a group of Devs/Designers doing a barn raising or something and get you a free professional looking site.

This is good advice.......I would also add you should lose the "aol" e-mail address and get something with your own domain name

I know folks in the business world that don't even open something that comes from an AOL addy.

Are you kidding..... Feld makes a mint for all the riders who risk there lives every time they get on the track..... I agree that there should be no fees, but they will never do that

Its understandable, I would like nothing to do but pay for everything but I am just not able to do it. the co-owner and I funded the team for the past 4 years and we have taped all our funds up. We thought get the team started and possibly we can pick up a sponsor. We are talking to a couple of people but budget do not start till January 2014 which our series starts then. This is my job since I am disabled from a motocross injury that left me not able to work. The co-owner has been funding most of the team. We hope this season to pick up that sponsor, but just in case we are do donations so we do not have to pull the efforts for the first time in 5 years. We do not want to be another team that had to fold because of money issues.

You might have more luck if the 'donations' could be a tax deductible contribution. As far as being entered in a drawing? Hmmm? Not that appealing to me at least.
Another thing, I noticed is (if I'm reading this correctly) you will ultimately need to reserve 30 hotels rooms throughout the series and you estimate $6500 for that. That averages out to be almost $217 per hotel room per night. Where the hell are you staying at? Just saying you could cut costs there.
I'm not trying how to tell you how to run your team and I agree with dgmx - I think it's cool you are trying to help riders out.
I honestly mean this, good luck with your endeavors.

Sorry, I put the wrong amount its $5500 for hotels and the parts and other things at $8,000. We looked into hotel prices and places like Baltimore for example, it is hard to get a hotel for less than $125 a night because they up the price for event.

Selling your VIP passes to be with the team is a good idea. You could also just sell your team shirts for $30-$50 or whatever.
I bought one of Dowd's shirts and really like it. The Dowds took in a little money and I got something to show for it.

some advice.. places like baltimore that have pricey hotel rooms you just go an exit or 2 down (15-20 mins) and you are back to rooms between $50-$70. Also the fact you have 2 riders they should be pitching in something such as splitting the hotel rooms or gas. like if they each gave you $2,500 for the entire season. I think its going to be really hard for you guys to find people that are going to fund your team seeing how you are looking for crew credentials and every other expense. the whole VIP package to me seems wrong. you are upseling what AX already offers by $175 so to me that just seems wrong, almost like taking advantage of the fans. and thats already a low amount of fans for AX so we dont want to scare them off. again i think what you are doing for these 2 riders is great you just maybe need to adjust some things. I have done the full series for less than what you guys are asking for. you just have to budget make sacrafices on where you stay and have the riders pitch in

we started the vip program to give the fans that VIP Experience. Our shirts alone (because they get a pit shirt) are not cheap and the passes are going up every year. We are doing it a lot cheaper then some other teams who do it like BTO Sports. They charge $500 when it does not cost them anywhere near that to run it. It will cost us about $125 just for one day and $200 Friday and Saturday, So we really do not make a profit on it. As far as having the riders pay for there ride, I feel as a part of the team they should not have to pay for there ride just to ride on the team. It is bad enough we do not have our hauler anymore (fire sucks). If we do not make the whole sponsor budget then yes we will have to fill the void somewhere. I would love to stay for amateur day but it is not feasible. The guys have jobs (they do not get paid be the team) that they have to return home to. Now maybe if a race is close to our state, we will.
