He had bad enough day, could had probably done with out his Oakley roll offs failing, it was a pretty neat looking streamer he was flying around for a few laps though. After seeing how well they work i am going to run out and get some!

He also yanked off the whole batch on like the 2nd or 3rd lap in the first moto. Just an all around shitty day at the office for The Dunge.

About the only two positives are: 1) he doesnt seem to be injured, prob just really sore, and 2) lovely Ms, Lindsay will give him a good deep tissue massage of those sore muscles asap Whistling

I was thinking that the goggle issue most likely contributed to his crash in moto 2 but being the professional and the champion that he is, Dungey did NOT allude to that in the post-race interview and took full responsibility for the "mistake". I'm not trying to say the Oakley goggles aren't good because I know that they are. Goggle malfunctions can happen at any time and when they do, crashes often result.

I love how Dungey always remains optimistic and positive, especially in the face of adversity. Huge fan of that! You never know when RV could have a terrible day like RD had today. I know Dungey thinks that way and he isn't going to waver from his "game plan", so to speak. I love that he rides on the edge but rarely pushes it out of his comfort zone and when he does, it's a calculated risk.

Anyone know what the issue was with his engine in moto 1?

It could have been a distraction. I know I would have been, but at my speed it would have been like a parking accident tip over.

I've been wondering since they came out why doesn't James wear the Airbrake goggle?

Well said about the Dunge. Roger said noting was wrong, thought it might be electrical, but the bike started right up when they got it back to the pits. I remember them saying they almost DNFd a few races last year, but didn't mention anything at the time. Also, the bike wasn't pushed this hard last season in the outdoors, so maybe it's being pushed into uncharted waters trying to run down RV, and things are happing...

I would suggest that they are having a vapor lock issue.

If you race long enough, chances are you'll run into some type of problem with roll offs regardless of goggle brand.
Would be interesting to hear some people's worst goggle experiences.

Goggles had nothing to do with that moto 2 crash.

roll offs exploding was common in the 90's.

Had a pair do that to me when the cannister lid came off in mid air because I missed the pull and hit the cannister instead. Oops, clear streamers everywhere!

Then I remember when Bevo gave me a set of Scott's electronic roll offs for a high point mudder one year. Took some roost and it blocked the eye that triggered the roll to move. Unfortunately the blocked electronic eye meant they rolled non stop until it got to the end. Made it about 2 laps and they were useless, had to take them off.

Goggle problem? Have you all lost your mind? I saw the race on T.V.! I too saw something that looked like streamers flowing out of both sides of his helmet. It was then that I realized Roger had somehow come up with a brilliant high tech sensor device which can detect RV and then deploy a type of gauge, or curb feelers if you will, through the use of some unknown material (kinda looks like goggle tear offs) intended to aid the Dunge in judging just exactly where to safely cut back into the line after he makes the pass. Well, after a couple of days went by, It occurred to me that there is an unintended secondary advantage that I don't think Roger has even considered.... which is that this new device of his will also help distract RV during RD's pass attempt. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but man you guys are dumb!

I'm gonna call Roger now and see what he thinks about my "unintended advantage" theory!!! Suckers.

I am not normally one to bag on stuff in here but, other goggles dont cost 165$ + roll offs. For that kind of dough they should not fail like that.

I'm pretty sure I've read that the "Oakley" Roll offs are actually someone else's with a big O sticker on them... Or were...

So maybe it wasn't them... Or maybe they made some new ones to fit the larger lense area and they haven't got it sorted

Either way, the goggle lense didn't fail, nor did any other part of the 165 dollar goggle. It is a part they don't even sell... and def not the first rolloff can to explode after getting hit by a rock

If it was hit by a rock then I take back what I said, there is nothing you can do about that. The roll off system for their new goggle is a completely new design with a lot fatter roll for wider field of vision, I am assuming that they designed this one.The older Oakley ones I believe they were someone elses production with an Oakley sticker on them.

We used to get little zip ties to keep the lids from popping off, I guess that trick has fallen to the wayside.

No other brand calls their goggle "Invincible" and charges $200 though
