Sounded like he was saying an overall electrical problem. Not just e-start specific. At least thats what I got from what he said

Just looked like he started looking over his shoulder and dropped his elbows when Bubba was right behind him..... Dropping the anchor probably wasn't the right thing to say
RD just made one big mistake in segment 4, losing 5 seconds. That's how James got close. Dungey was pulling away again from JS when he stalled it.

There's a chance a kick starter could have fired it up

Sounds like the stalling was an issue with the, bike, not operator error
7/6/2013 11:07am
even if it did he was not going to kickstart it after nearly a full moto - wounder for Dunge regardless of fan or not.
Live by estart, die by estart. How much extra weight would a kicker, gear & spring add? 1 lb? Decoster wasn't clear on WHAT the electrical was... only that the problem was "electrical". Could mean he stalled and there wasn't enough juice to bump it going again.

I do not think they can add a kickstarter. I thought the latest version of the KTM450FE they removed the kickstart bosses on the engine cases where the kickstart used to be. You can not make those kind of mods to the engine cases and still be legal with the production rule.

From MXA
"The 2013 engine cases are in the background. You can see the kick starter boss that has been eliminated from the 2013-1/2 Factory Edition cases (foreground). The motocross verison never had a kickstarter, but it still had the boss."

How does this never happen when he's dominating (2010, 2012) and always happen when Villopoto is there and they're in a points battle (2011, 2013)? Bummed.

Good point. Although I ultimately think this won't change the outcome of the championship, it still sucks. It would have been great to watch.

If the battery was going flat a kicker would have started the bike right away.

They are alright. Everything on the property burned down (including the shop with all the bikes unfortunately) but the house. The firefighters literally must have been standing on the porch saving it. Most of the other homes on their street/in their area burned down, it was a really sad sight to see.

Sounds like a kickstarter wouldn't have helped seeing how it was ELECTRICAL.
Give it a rest kickstart crew.

no way it would have started.

also, how many times has e-start saved a ktm rider? more times than it has cost them i can tell you that much - sx season displayed that clearly without looking @ outdoors.

Probably so. At least Tomac usually gets crappy starts so the first half of the moto is interesting. Better start drinking.

The impression I got from the interview was that a kickstarter wouldn't hav helped. But we will nrver know.

Personally I think it was a bad move to NOT have a kickstarter. Hell, if you never have to use it fine. But redundancy can be a good thing.
