First seen Ralph at Toledo Speedway covering the ASA races back in the early 80's, Ralph has been on that scene allot longer than SX

Matthes' pod cast with Ralph last fall (?) was pretty good. He's a good dude who knows his stuff pretty well, and has been at it for a long time with just about all things with engines. Trying to please everyone is the surest route to failure, it can't be done.

He is now also the owner of National Speed Sport News, the Bible of auto racing. I am kind of surprised he is still doing SX.

Exactly! i use to give Ralph a lot of shit for his announcing, but have been talking to him on twitter over the last few months, really cool guy and absolutely LOVES all forms of motorsports.

Michael, did you happen to see the piece he did on the NASCAR pre show with Dale Jr.? it was very well done. Sure would love to go see JR's place! that whole little western town he made on his property, has a saloon and even a little jail lol
I've been to Western Town. Fun place to drink with your bros, but pretty weird.

Ralph's done NASCAR since at least 2004. And Superbike, sports cars, drag racing, indy, sprint cars, and anything with a motor pretty much. He's a hard rock/metal fan too.

That is weird, I have been (ahem) a somewhat avid NASCAR fan since around 2006 and have never seen him reporting. I am not saying that isn't true at all, I just have never seen him. He was one of the "main guys" on last week's race and I am certain that is something he hasn't done before.

Saw him doing coverage for the Pocono race, and also Speed Center.

For sure. Seeing him take over National Speed Sport News was pretty cool (and a brave move on his part). Print's a tough business.

Ralph's career has spanned a variety of different motorsports over a number of years. Nothing new or shocking here.
I was watching Ralph every weekend back in the 90's doing the commentating for the "World of Outlaws" winged sprint car races in the summer. He was very good at it.
Covered drivers like Steve Kinser, Mark Kinser, Joey Soldana, Dave and Dale Blaney, Jac "the Wild Child" Haudensheild, Kevin Walker, Stevie Smith and races like the Kings Royal, The Dream, and of course the Knoxville Nationals.
Those were good times.
