i can't speak for the crowds, but more and more every year at SX i meet people who never rode/quit riding and dont ride anymore.

how is that growing the sport? most of their reasons??? it's too expensive. plain and simple

I agree with you on the participation of racing side of your argument, but these people are still at supercross watching, which is what i responded to, I wonder how many more people will turn up to watch the second round of the WMX now, than would not have been going if Courtney would not have been riding a 125?

I doubt many will be coming out just to watch her. That would seem silly for sure, but I guarantee more will be watching or sticking around until the end of the day to watch the WMX races. More is still a term I use loosely. People are still going to be booking it for the parking lots after the last men's moto, but "more" people will be watching because of the 125.

do they?, have the crowds at Supercross got smaller since the early 2000's when four strokes came in? what about the MX?

I know the Vital 2 stroke faithfull love them, but outside this board, and a couple of MX sites has the WMX got any publicity, a small vocal minority do not bring in bigger crowds,

here in NZ, Katherine Prumm got just as much publicity for Winning a moto at Hangtown and busting her wrist in the second moto as Courtney did (on a KX250F), the fact that shes a young girl making her dreams happen, the general public don;t care how many strokes bikes have,

(in saying that I do think a 125 class needs to come back, and wish the Japanese OEM's would put some money into devolpment of new 125 models)
I think the consensus of this thread is, much of the buzz, on the track, after the race was just because she rode an YZ125, and did so well on it. I can't grasp how anyone would leave out the smoker in the equation. Sure she would get much attention smoking people on a 250F as well, but something in the combo made people so excited. Doesn't matter who is reporting this, bias or not, the word two-stroke pops in every sentence.

Actually it wouldnt be a trick at all, it would be showing the reality that you dont hafta ride an overweight tractor to be fast and enjoy motocross. And most of all, that KTM is still developing and selling quality smokers.

I said it in another thread, if they keep this gal on a smoker, I will try to show up at races to support her efforts. INCREDIBLE ride she put in, nothing but respect for that kid.

She has a new fan here !

I think that she had better be ready to set aside a considerable amount of time to interact with all of her new fans at the next round. She is going to be quite popular.

Here is another, from Hangtown.

The music lasts for about 10 seconds then the lawn mowers show up -- galloping after her in vain...

It's not fair to the 4 strokes. This series has to look for some kind of advantage to give the Foo Fifties so that they can maybe compete in the same race with the 125.

Maybe an additional displacement boost up to 300 cc's to compete with the 125....

Or maybe a "4 Stroke Headstart" program where the fubboopers get to leave the line 10 seconds early so they can compete more evenly with the 125.

Or maybe the factory Honda chick and have her bike fitted with Honda/s innovative double Fooper like the FourFoopty's have on it.

I feel sorry for the Sayaka chick because she rides for Factory Fonda, so she's stuck permanently on the Booper. She can't switch to the lighter, apparently faster 125 type because Fonda only has Boopercross now. But they can shape her seat foam real nice like in that corny pit video which makes losing more comfortable.

Maybe the track wasn't built mushy enough for good Fooper racing. Maybe it needed Jeff Emig's "Rice Holes" out there directing the track to be more Fooper Friendly.

Only a 10 second head start?

Not enough. CD151 had a 30 second lead through much of moto 1.

idk about you, but i never once thought that when james stewart was on a 125 slaying every rider he went up against that happened to be on bigger more powerful 250f's, that the 125 was a "chick bike"
