Good times man. Looks like a fun place to ride. I would be calling Barnett or at least bring in the loader for a serious track and do a endless laps if I had the room. Stoked for you on the whips, now just carve hard up the face. The black tire mark up the ramp should start to carve left or right, not dead sailor straight. ha ha ...ah. Good for you. thanks for sharing, I'm jealous.

Are you standing up or sitting down off the ramp? I'm not the worlds best at whipping or anything, but I can do them pretty good. Everybody use to get mad at me when we would be out "freeriding" because I would literally stay at a jump for hours just doing whips. I find that I can do them a lot better when I'm sitting down all the way off the jump.

It happened when I was so little I just got used to it. It only effects my riding in dull light situations were there isn't any shadows. Goggles don't help ether so when I can I ditch them lol. I stand up and lean my hips hard left and bring the bars with me when I whip. I've been working on turning my shoulders down to the left with my hips lately and in that third whip you can see my shoulders turn at first then I chickened out but it ended out being pretty smooth anyways.

Counter-steering really helps when doing whips. I'll sit down and if I'm whipping the rear tire to the right I'll lean my body and the bike to the left and then pull back with my right hand a little right at the top of the face of the jump. It really drops the bike to the left a lot when doing it and makes it a lot easier. Its a little sketchy at first because it feels a little unnatural to steer to the right when you're trying to make the bike go left.......but it really does work.

Back when I raced BMX me and my buddy would practice whips on this one table top jump I had at my house. We would make my mom stand there for hours filming the same shit. Then when we were done we would go in and watch the tape (VHS) for hours just to see who did the best whip.

I miss those days...

True Bro mom right there.Laughing

Yeah we filmed ourselves too. But we also liked to jump one right after the other and whip in the opposite direction as the guy in front. Just thinking about it. I basically had a full blown BMX track next to our house which I built by hand. We would bury anything and cover it with dirt to make jumps. So much time and dedication went into BMX and MX back then.

Good times.

Yeah man I know what you mean about hard work and dedication. I spent over 300 man hours building my compound with a tiny soured up lawn mower with a tiller and a bucket. The fmx area you see in the video is only about %5 of y compound and is defiantly my the best looking lol.

Me too. I remember the first time I caught air. Me and muti time wakeboard champ Darren Shapiro were just little kids chasing each other on mini bikes. I was following him through the woods, we were trying to keep up with every body else on bigger bikes. We went over this little hill and I caught like a foot of air. I just stopped and went back and jumped it 100 times and then made my parents follow me out there to the middle of the everglades and watch me do it over and over and ha things have not changed only the jumps are a lot bigger. That was the start of a serious addiction to motocross. Raced every week for about 30 years after that day. I won't stop either. Good times.

We would ride our BMX bikes such long distances too to get to some cool riding spot and just spend all day riding. Then when we were old enough to drive we would drive even further to some of those places. Where I grew up there was a closed down club house that had an empty pool that we would ride in all the time. Then there was a buddy of ours that had a half pipe in his back yard and we would ride that too. I sucked at skateboarding, was ok at MX but loved BMX back then.

Oh and not to name drop but there was this guy named Mike Metzger that lived close by. We would ride over to his place and just sit there with our jaws dropped watching him ride this outdoor style SX track he had carved out into the hillside. This was pre freestyle when he was racing Supercross. The jumps seemed so crazy at the time but really they were just super steep tables and doubles.

Random thoughts of awesomeness.
