Hahaha when I grenaded my right wrist I had that thought run through my head, I then woke up from my drug induced state and slapped myself.

But on a serious note, chicken winging it sucks, makes it that much harder to let off when you do start the whiskey action

You stack into the face of a jump, or drop the front wheel in the whoops, nose it into a big breaking-bump in the 2nd Moto & you'll see just how far back your thumb goes...until that ligament goes "pop".

But, I'm sure you know better. No worries. They've got good surgeons these days. Leaves a really cool scar, too! Oh, that's right: there's plenty of racers that had that happen on ATV's/Quads &...get this...watercraft!

A friend of mine has a thumb throttle on his YZ250. Dumbest thing ever. I won't ride it.

How do quad riders go threw the whoops with a thumb throttle?

ever watch a quad rider in the whoops? It's like watching a station wagon hit speed bumps in the walmart parking lot! RIVETING stuff! I recommend buying a bucket of chicken from the deli and just settling in for the show! Hold on to your seat space will be limited when word gets out!

Thumb throttles are either on or off. You hear a quad rider using a thumb throttle going round a flat turn "blap, blap blap balp". It looks & sounds disgusting. They don't seem to be able to modulate it.

Most technical quad riders (IMO) ride twist throttle.

You can control a thumb throttle just like a twist throttle if you know what you're doing. On a quad it's easier to just be on or off the throttle since you don't have to balance or lean it like a bike.

I haven't seen a pro quad rider with a twist throttle since the 80's & 90's.

Why don't they just put a gas pedal and a suicide shifter on his bike. That'd be better.

You obviously not looked very hard.

Don't know about USA but all the top riders in Europe use twist throttle. Warnia, Couprie, Holmes.

You know I wonder if this wrist injury with Blake is indeed a lot more serious, or potentially a lot more serious, than is currently thought. Didn't a similar wrist injury effectively end a famous riders career? I can't remember who it was now, a rider from the 80s long before I got into MX. But anyway of course I hope that worst case scenario isn't the case here.

I barely follow US atv racing so I don't know any of the riders in Europe.
