This started as a discussion on our Instagram account, when I posted a photo of Jason Lawrence.

Who's the real 338? Jason Lawrence? Or Zach Osborne?

I just put up a poll on the homepage. Vote there, discuss here.

Definitely J-Law. Dude is a badass.

The fact that Osborn had to put a sign on his bike in the pits that said "not JLAW" or something of the sort... JLaw is the real 338.

Does it matter if they're racing separate classes?

Zac had it as an amateur number... If I remember correctly Jason started running it because he debuted at Southwick? Right?

I was going to say J-law, since he won the championship w/ it. Zach was running 338 on mini warriors 3 though and that was back in what, 2002??

I say let'em race it out. Put them equal bikes, 1, 30+2 moto, outcome determines who the "real" 338 is.
I go with Jason, he has a championship with that number, He is more indentified by the number also.
But then there is the seniority arguement, Z.O. has hD that number for a pretty good stint. ehh, do the 1 moto
race so it gets put to rest.!!

It's Osborne's number this year... I heard J-Law was thinking about #100, which is not actually Hansen's number, but he was still using it too....

Zach. He is a racer. Period.

Lawerence is ( maybe ) going to show up, race near the back of the pack, then quit a few rounds in.

The legit racer, who has been grinding it out for the past few years, should be able to keep that #. That racer is Zach.

So Zachs been running it for well over 10 years now and well, Jason has not. Zach has a National title to his name. Jason has a regional supercross title. Theyre both pretty special on a bike but Zach got there first.

What's it matter. There was a day when every year every rider had a different number in the top 100, and nobody hardly knew who the three digit riders numbers where. Did Lawrence ever have his number identified as his career number, and if so, did he follow the rules to keep it. If not, then the number goes to the next available rider who it's issued to. Big deal on the whole thing. If he's serious about the whole deal, he can ride with a new number, garner enough points to earn a career number, and claim 338 next year when Osbourne is done with it. I doubt Osbourne is that attached to the number. I'm sure he'll earn enough points to get a two digit number and work his way up in the points. Maybe Lawrence should let 338 go and start a new career with a new number. Kind of like being reborn, but like I said before, it all depends on if he's serious enough to move on with it.
