The Dungey pass on Villopoto: Was that Villopoto being conservative or has The Dunge turned up the aggressive meter?

Target presents, "The Way Up," a new series profiling six athletes including motocross champion Ryan Dungey, surfers Kolohe Andino and Carissa Moore, skateboarder Paul Rodriguez, and freeskiers Rosalind Groenewoud and Torin Yater-Wallace. Directed by Steve Berra, each episode focuses on one of the Target athletes, showcasing their rise to the top while pinpointing what each felt to be his or her exact breakthrough moment as a professional. The first episode, featuring Ryan Dungey, premieres April 30, 2013, with a new episode dropping alternating Tuesdays.
Pit Row
I dont think RV is that much faster, Dungey just needs a start, or to move through the pack quicker. He is the slowest of the top guys at getting throuhg the pack.
people remember the J-Law meltdown, but they dont remember his rookie year where Dungey won I think 3 races and could have had another before Beef cleaned him out from the other lane.
I think RV fought the good fight but Dungey was putting it on strong. He could have taken Dungey down at the risk of crashing out. 2nd was better than crashing out. Good strategy.
All that said. It was the best we've seen of Dungey this year. I hope he goes strong the rest of the year.
Dungey was definitely the man this weekend. I thought Minn. being a hometown race for Dungey might result in another win, but not if he had to go through RV. Well, he did it. Ran him down and outraced him. BUT...
That crowd...a boost for Dungey and a hindrance for RV. I can't recall that sort of crowd volume lap after lap anytime recently...surely it heaped onto the pressure in the closing laps, which was already huge, and we started seeing little mistakes up front. Like at Steel City when Dungey led the whole moto but for the last 50 feet. They shake themselves apart. RV's last lap was his fastest since lap 11, though. He was rebuilding. If he'd let Ryan go by two laps earlier he would've had time for another go at him.
Brilliant race, though. I want another.
