DNA rims?

I ve heard mixed reviews, 50/50 good and bad!, my one buddy and hated themhaevy and did nt hold up, and one had good luck! IMO you can t go wrong with excel wheels and talon wheels if you have the money, thats what i bought and they excellent, not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

I flattened a DNA rear rim this spring on an acceleration bump out of a corner.

That being said, the front is still as straight as the day I bought it. They are also heavier than the stock rims.

If I were to do it again I'd probably spend the few hundered dollars extra and buy something a little better.

My buddy has three sets , four of the rims cracked and the all the bearings went after one year

If you talk to people who have actually owned a set (It is easy to find the "My buddy owned a set" comments) I think you will find mxb2 is just about right on the 50/50 thing. I have been running them for a while now and it took about a dozen rides untill the spokes seemed to settle in. Both rims are as straight as an arrow and the quality of the anodizing has held up well.

MXA did a test on them and noted that the spokes stretch like a mother @$%^^^&. I think this is the main rason why, when you talk to people about these rims, you get the mixed reviews. Because of the cheezy spokes and how easy they stretch, the DNA wheel sets are not like a stock or high quality after market rim sets in that on a higher quality rim set you tighten the spokes a few times and then for the most part forget about it.

I believe that most people who are flatening rims or having the wheels come apart are either not checking the stretching spokes enough or do not know how to tighten spokes on a rim properly. If you stay on top of the spokes and tighten them properly I do not see why you won't be happy.

With that said, if you want to save a few $$$ and don't mind being limited a little to your color choices on the hubs (When you let them mod your stock hubs), I can not reccomend enough that you try TCR. By far the best wheel set for the $$$ and if you need that cool colored hub, check their billet hub sets. They can anodize your stock wheels and I believe for the most part, the stock wheels will lace to one of their hub sets. Way cheaper than dropping over a grand on an Excel / Talon wheel set

I had a set of DNA wheels on my last CRF450. The rims seemed to hold up OK, but the bearings in the hubs were shot in no time.

I have a set "not my buddy", they are garbage!

Mine are about 2 years old. They are black with red hubs on a Honda 450. The front rim (only the front, back is still fine) has faded horrible. Looks gold now. They won't warranty then. If you want your bike to look good (and you do or you wouldn't be looking at wheel sets) don't buy DNA. Bearings are garbage also. Not a good experience for me.

I had a national level pro rider tell me to stay away from them two years ago.

ABSOLUTE JUNK!!

Had two sets, both rear rims ended up cracked after a dozen rides, both front and rear rims had severe flat spots and cracks around the nipple holes. I check my spokes before every ride, so it wasn't a maintenance issue either. The rear wheels spacers were so soft that I was crushing them just snugging up the rear axle nut. They wouldn't warranty shit and the only reason I got a second set was because they sold them to me at wholesale. I should have put that money towards a real set of wheels.

Currently I have A60's with Buchanan oversized spokes and TCR hubs. I've ridden the shit out of them and they're holding up great...couldn't be happier.

I have a set on my bike. The finish on the front hub started cracking and coming off in about a month, and the spokes suck!! Other than that I love em!! Lol!! I sent them picture after picture of the front hub and they were like what's wrong with it. I said never mind can I get a set of spokes, so at the least they sent me the spokes!! I will put a couple pics on here when I figure out how to do it with the iPhone.

I think the moral of the story is, whether it is rims or engine parts, you get what you pay for.

Don't buy the cheap crap made in China.

Yep. Joey cracked a few sets BUT he is very hard on the bike. Most local riders have no complaints.

I have a set and they are fuckin garbage!!! Seriously I have to tighten the spokes everytime between practice/motos. Spokes coming loose during during races ending in a flat back to back. Get a set of Warp 9's or something else but not DNA's. Granted I have people that have had good luck with them but I wont buy them again.
