Stewart has crashed on all brands, but I agree they have been less dramatic this season although his points tally doesn't really hint at any great improvement in consistency.

The crash this weekend reminded me a lot of the photog crash in the outdoors, minus the photog obviously.

That's not what you said in your original post. You said he crashes every week.

and even in that crash he admits the photographer had nothing to do with it. i believe in one of the newer trans worlds he said it

This season Stewart crashes multiple times less than he did previous two years.
After reading this post, it made me realize what a deuchie comment it was. I think you were you trying to say that he crashes less now. How has this strategy worked for him related to race results.

he may be crashing less, but hes still crashing. hes making a lot of mental mistakes. coming up short on jumps, stalling the bike

I learned three things while watching this...

https://youtu.be/J5lnXcWKHQA

1. Dungey swung out wider...it was just a smarter line. It wasn't much wider, but it didn't have to be.
2. Stewart's front end was dancing around as he tried to line up the jump, almost like he couldn't decide where to go.
3. Dungey kept his leg out till the last possible moment. Maybe Stewart's "MotoGP" style is better suited to MotoGP.

I noticed something else, too, but not from the video: Marvin Musquin has made two very Stewart-like comments recently.
First, after his Daytona win, he said "I don't want to say it was easy, but...", which of course means "It was easy," which of course is what Stewart said after his win at Oakland last year and which he took much subsequent shit for.
Then yesterday, after crashing and finishing 3rd in the main, MM said (twice) "I was faster and I knew it."

How much longer can the gangly Frenchman maintain his nice 'n' humble reputation? Moto fans in my experience are certainly not a hypocritical bunch, so "not for long" would be my guess.

from what hes posted on his twitter, im leaning towards thinking hes starting to focus on having a good go at outdoors.

It's all prep for outdoors anyway. Without him the races are boooooring. No one else has the speed to touch RV2. JS7 is no spring chicken either....but he still lays down the fastest lap times. He looks great on the Zook!

Racist trash, that also do not have the balls to just flat out admit that an occasinally flamboyant black kid doesn't fit in to their redneck agenda. I'd have a lot more respect for people if they'd just admit it. But they'll ALWAYS come up with a bullshit line of reasoning like "I don't like his reality show."

A Stewart topic is always good as far as exposing who the idiots and assholes are here.

I don't know if somebody have already said it but...I can't be the only one who noticed that james looked a bit sketchy in the same jump a few laps earlier? The tires were so close to the ground once that the bike almost went trough at another direction. So honestly, I wasn't surpised at all when he crashed in the very same corner a few laps later. Dry

+1
They showed it in slow motion at one point as he was coming through
that corner and you could just see his front tire barely skimming the dirt.
I was keeping my fingers crossed that it wasn't going to happen, but it
did bit him in the end.

Exactly. Looks like the parking lot at a local track.

First thing I noticed on that hip jump before JS7 crashed was how insanely fast his forks were rebounding... I know Stewart likes to ride over the front of the bike, but god damn.

When the crowd roared I knew it was at that exact spot, the way he was doing it just looked sketchy all night. Watching the crash replay, it just made sense how his front end knifed, I'm sure the line was gone by then anyway.

I was sitting mid level behind the finish line watching Stewart chasing Dungey. Stew was definitely faster in the whoops and that was about it from what I could tell. (Have the race recorded but haven't watched yet) There were a few times that RD seemed to really pop up over that jump whereas Stewart was just skimming the top trying to gain time. A few laps in me and a buddy commented on how sketchy he looked hitting that. Hate to say it but we weren't surprised when he hit the deck a little later.

That's what makes him exciting, he's fearless. That's also why he crashes. It looked like his rear shock was rebounding too fast to me. He was racing Dunge really clean too. Being out of the championship you can tell he's not passing really aggressively. Dungey had him covered for 2/3 of the track I thought. The spot he crashed is the same spot Wil and a few others were having problems trying to push it. The lean angle trying to inside/outside jump that little bump was awesome to watch.

I agree it seems he crashes more when the competition gets tough. He also had two DNF's that were not his fault, and a torn ACL. It will be interesting to see how he does Outdoors with that knee and all the ruts.
I dig Stew, but I kinda wish he'd retire. I don't want to see that young man taking any more dirt samples. He probably has had multiple concussions, and after seeing what it's done to the NFL guys, I hate to think what some of these SX/MX pros are going to end up like.

Stew's a class act (much more so than many in the sport), and he's already shown that he helped take the speed to a higher level. He has nothing more to prove.
