Reed's vs Lackey's bike

If Chad were to take Lackey's old RC500 for a ride, what do you guys think would be the most glaring and obvious difference? The weight? The power? Suspension?
I think just riding it around, it would either be the front brake, or the seat/riding position.
If he were to run it hard and try to cut a fast lap, then I think those "wet noodle" forks would be the most obvious difference.
Opinions?

Weight? The RC500 is lighter
Power? The RC500 makes more power.

The glaring differences would be:

1. Brakes
2. Suspension
3. Ergonomics
4. Power delivery

Yeah I bet any of today's top riders would be amazed at what a brutal monster that thing is. Most would probably say it is unrideable.

especially seeing as how they put rekluse clutch's and flywheel's on 450's....ya the power delivery would be the biggest thing

he might remember what it was like to ride a real bike

and none of them have massive handlebar mustaches like Brad Lackey, which explains it.

Pulled this off the MXA website just now regarding Saddleback. Would today's riders even try jumping Suicide Mountain on a 450 in these conditions? O'Mara jumping Suicide Mountain on a 125.

Damn, badass of O'Mara doing that jump despite landing short repeatably. But I feel RV, Stevie Bagget etc have really stepped up the game...

I remember last year when Bagget did that crazy Freestone jump, made me wonder if his bike would hold up on impact.

The engines on those old works Hondas were not the un-ridable monsters people think they were. Many works Honda veterans say they were ultra smooth and tractable.

When I said that today's riders would say they are unrideable, I meant the amount of power they have coupled with the flexiforks, and the weak brakes.

There has been a fast rider or two show up at a Texas Vintage event. It's absolutely amazing how fast an old air cooled twin shocker can go. I heard KDub spun a few laps on a buddies 81 Maico 490 over in Louisiana several years back. He could probably make a 78 RC500 go around a track quite nicely. The Lackey bike is headed to a museum setting and won't be ridden, but there is always the other one....
