New gear? He has been with THOR and A-Stars for years. You need to change the title to new bike, energy drink and number.

I bet he shows up at Anaheim 1 with 22 and red background. He will not sport the number 1 on his number plates.

I thought that I heard his gear contract was up at the end of the year as well. Is his Thor contract past 2008?

Why the press release with the gear and photos? Thats 09 Thor stuff, it's sure to be catalog/poster photos for those pics. He always thanks Jeff Fox from Parts Unlimited on the podium, say as RV and the 2 companies go hand in hand. I don't see the 2 parting unless it's over money. That would be almost as big as Stewart and Fox parting. Maybe Oxbow or Wulfsport is going mainstream, the euro is strong these days.

I wouldn't think Reed would leave THOR, BUT if you notice on the THOR website for the first time in many years, there is NO Reed replica helmet this year. Maybe that means something, maybe it doesn't. I just found it strange.

He didn't the first time he won the title. And like RC, he said he wouldn't until he had passed MC's 72 SX wins.

Maybe because the color/brand information hadn't been released yet?

lol, Dave most of his helmets have the colors to go with any team except Kawi. Especially the first one. I see your point though.

I say practice and press day with the #1 and race time with the deuce deuce. All while wearing Thor, A-Stars and thanks to Jeff Fox, Parts, Thor, Scott, Rockstar Makita Suzuki and mom and dad.

True- But those are the 08 Suzuki graphics not the Anaheim 12009 graphics. It was just something that I heard in passing.
Interesting Reed had a Rockstar hat and waterbottle at X.

i think it will be interesting with RV moving up, semi-new on the 450, and reed\stew changing teams. hopefully we can see some battles, instead of a one man show. last season was great imo.

Wow Super Secret Insider Guy, I now know I can rely on your word for all that insider information. Reed seems to have gotten a little shorter and I thought RC's number was retired for a few years but they must have made an exception for Reed.

Also, I was not aware that Reed switched to Fox gear.

Im saying that he will wear #1 this year in SX. He went through alot last year: inconsistancy, injury, a fight from contenders he did not see coming. So I can see him doing it to kind of say, I busted my ass last year for this and im going to let everyone see it.

Not hating on RC here, but I think it was really lame for him to just decide that he was going to break tradition and stop wearing the number 1. Why did he think he was better than his predecessors and why was he trying to make mx like NASCAR where no one runs the 1. I really hope Chad rolls the 1, and everyone in the future for that matter...it just looks too cool not to run it.

Not sure why he didn't outdoors, but RC always said he would not run the number 1 in SX until he passed MC's 72 Supercross wins. He said MC is number 1 until then. Reed pretty much said the same thing.

agreed.

If no-one ever uses a #1 until they beat every record imaginable, all we'll see with a #1 is someone (well) past his prime and probably about to retire....

Superstition is why he didn't want to run the #1.
I remember one interview where he said he had pretty good luck with that number and wasn't going to do anything to change it up.

He ran the #1 plate I believe once on the Honda and once on the Zook out of respect for the crew.

There is also a ton of pressure that comes with running the #1 plate. You're expected to win. Thats what was so amazing about McGrath always running it. He expected to win races and the championship no matter what. He never doubted himself. I think Reed should run it because he earned it.
