Thanks Pit Racer. Yea, I caught that about Millsaps. Guess I've just been out of the Southern Ohio MX scene for a while. You do tend to lose touch after about 20 years. Maybe someone should have sent me a memo.

Great pics Rupert! I have lots from Kenworthy's n the late 90's, even have video of DeHoop getting landed on at the Widow Maker during the first lap of one of the motos. Can't quite remember the year.

As for District 11, there's still a lot of great tracks in Ohio, and we're looking forward to hitting some east and north east of Columbus. The "District X" series with Malverne, Briarcliff, and Chillitown looks pretty good. Can't wait to go to Malverne... heard lots of good things about that place and only seems to be getting better.

Stop posting sub-par nonsense, and you won't have a problem.

Some people call it censorship. I call it attempting to boost the collective IQ.

Most of the tracks from district 11 are now running under Southern Ohio MX. . Dirt Country, DMC ,Treaty City, AMS and COCR are all in the series, It's A 20 race series that pays points/ Fly contingency/ Etc. Some of the district 12 tracks are now under the name Ohio Motocross Association......OMA. Ohio has moto but its not like the go old days.

Get this my fellow motorheads. I just checked the District 11 website (southern Ohio), and there are NO motocross races scheduled for 2013. WTF!
Maybe it's just a sign of the times, ya' know. MX's fun factor hasn't changed, but you can't do a paper-route kinda job and afford things today, like in the past.
I've said it before, and for many, it's not a respected opinion, but I'd love to see a major shake-up of things. Something that requires a revamp by the oem's with attempts to reduce the going-in price of fun.

Just for comparison, in the 1993 - 2000 time frame, D11 had approximately 110 AMA races held per year. There were weekends where you had a choice on both Sat and Sun as to which race to attend.

There was a fair series that ran during the week as well.

Yep. Actually, with the summertime fair -race series, that once reached over thirty-rounds, it was ALMOST possible

to race every night of the week. I do know when my kids were little, one summer week - we participated in five

(5) different motocross events.

Rupe: Thanks for the wealth of memories from Kenworthy's. I really miss that place. Only now does Don K realize just how much he screwed up. I cannot believe what a ride that place was for me in the late 80s until closing day. Living 10 minutes from the track helped a lot. The soil was incredible. The avitar to the left was taken from one of the last days.

Regarding SW Ohio tracks:
-Buckeye Hills will be good once they figure out their prep.
-New Vienna has made HUGE strides in the last 2 years.
-Pusheta Creek is a gem of a facility about an hour N of Dayton.
-Briarcliff is the best facility going away! Yes it is a haul from Cincinnati (or Xenia in my case). Pull out an overnight trip to get the best riding. Day 2's riding might suffer depending on the festivities overnight...

OMA's new organization will be a hands-down winner too.

There needs to be some better ones in NW Ohio also, there is nothing. Shit half the parking lots at d14 races or GLMX series races are Ohio plates. I like SVRA track been around forever. Delta has been around forever too, and held a national in '76, but unfortunatly the track owners do minimal prep or work with it and charge max amounts.

Good points. I like the way you you laid that out.

Rupert - great pictures. Makes me miss riding that Ohio dirt in the summertime. Ohio is a great place for motocross. I just wish I had some great options that were within an hours drive.

Thanks. I always thought each respective district had exclusive rights as a sanctioning body to that particular region for all AMA events. I had no idea that there where other organizations taking up the reigns. I'm probably less than an hour from Briarcliff and I've heard nothing but good about the place. Going to have to hit it this summer if my old bones can still take it.

Rupert, is that you standing behind the YZ490, if so, you sure look familiar. If so, I'll bet we've crossed each others paths at Honda Hills a time or two. I used to hate having to wait until 2:00 am for awards handouts.

Yup, I rode around on that 490 when she wasn't broke,. I sucked and that bike sucked. It made me wreck too much.

Wrecking hurts, it's embarrassing and it's counterproductive...
