Missing this year, though Bayo and the rest of the crew are in. I'll be in Dallas.

Considering all this time it's always been closed to the public, that should be further proof of it's last gasp

Yep. They started doing that with the PRI show as well and it has now been moved to another location.

They are having 2 shows this year, the 2nd being held in October. In 2014, it will only be in October. I guess they are giving it a try this year as a trial run.

This will be the first time in 10 years that I will not be going. Sucks but I think this show is just about done. I'd like to see the show in Orlando take off in October.

Missing the Red Garter already.Sad

I have heard that the October show for Indy this year is not going to happen at this point. Not enough commitment from vendors.

I can't say that I am the least bit surprised. The industry is really struggling right now. Our floor traffic is bad. We are seriously considering closing a few days during the week, because no one is coming in, and we aren't making enough money to keep the lights and heat on.

I also will not be attending. I have been going every other year since they moved the show from Cincy to Indy. Hopefully the Orlando rumors are true, as I think that is the only way it survives.

The Fall Indy show was cancelled
It'll be something like 18 months, fall of 2014, until the next Indy show
I am doing the AIMexpo in Orlando in October

I stopped doing Indy years ago

Back in the day the Indy show was awesome, now it looks like a ghost town when comparing it to years ago.

Open for a few hours on the sunday afternoon.
Still draws a lot of attention from all the international distributors, and a chance for them all to meet in the one place. While the motorcycle industry in the US seems to be flailing, here in Aus, it is not as heavily hit in regards to the recession. Plenty of industry guys from Aus are on the way over for the show.

I'll be leaving Thursday. Driving this year and bringing cash to take advantage of the deals I miss each year. If they move the show to the fall, we won't be going anymore as that is right in the middle of our race season. We work at the tracks so if i miss a race I miss money.....

I have been going to Indy for 12 years as either a dealer, rep or manufacturer. To walk the whole show used to take all 3 days. Last year I did it in 2 hours.

Went on my gut feeling and decided not to have a booth this year at indy but we booked for Orlando last week.

Dealers have been asking for the Expo to move to a warmer location forthe 20+ years I have been in the industry. AIM Expo got it right....see you in Orlando in October. BTW ..... 2.5 days are for dealer/media and 2.5 days are for the public

My plan is to be at the Vital get together and Racer X ... SX Party.

Ill be there all weekend but am quite worried about the turnout.
Orlando falls on the same weekend as monster cup, poor planning in my opinion.
Hit me up if you're in Indy this weekend.

Vital Get Together? Hadn't heard about that. Haven't hit the RacerX party yet, might try that this year.

How does that not get mentioned in a pre-meeting before they decide to confirm the dates for something like that?

If anyone could drop by booth 2603 and look this thing over they would be doing me a huge favor. I've been somewhat fascinated in the development of Chinese motorcycles and have half seriously joked about "racing" one of these this seasons and blogging about it.

From Dealernews:

"The SSR Motorsports SR250-R dirtbike is powered by a 249.6cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-stroke engine connected to a 34 mm carburetor and a five-speed transmission. Maximum power is a claimed 25.8 hp at 9,000 rpm. The bike’s frame is made from an aluminum alloy. Front suspension is a 47 mm inverted fork with adjustable rebound and compression and 250 mm of travel. Rear suspension is a Prol-link single shock with adjustable spring preload and rebound and 115 mm of travel. Seat height, weight and wheel base are 38 inches, 260 lbs. and 60 inches, respectively. MSRP is $3,599."

I'm just wondering how it looks and feels in person. The thing with SSR is they go from factory to factory and go "make us some of those". Some of the pitbikes they sell are actually really good, while others are complete junk. It just really depends on what factory they came from. I actually believe this is very simliar to the bike Christini used to build their production 2wd motorcycle. I have a hard time believing they would put their kit on something that was total junk but who knows.
