How much rain did you guys get down there? We were planning on coming down for the village creek race this weekend but having second thoughts.

Was hoping for a practice track on Friday but I called around and seems everything is closed in the Dallas Forth Worth area. Anybody know of any tracks that plan on running practice?

I don't know what kind of rain they got up in Dallas but if it's anything like what we've gotten in North Houston, you're really taking some chances. 3 Palms down here tends to open pretty quick but since we have more rain in the forecast for the weekend, they may just say forget it. Riding here in the middle of the winter isn't very easy. It's either real cold or real wet or both.

Supposed to clear out tonight. Village said they are still planning to run, but won't decide for sure until Friday.

Underground might be open.

I live in northeast Texas and there is forecast for rain again Saturday, pretty good percentage. When I saw the rain was coming I put my 250F on the stand and stripped it down for cleaning and greasing because I knew I wouldn't be riding anywhere around here for a while! Gonna go ahead and check valves and change fork oil too now that I have no expectation of riding this weekend either. Forecast shows 50% in DFW on Saturday, take your chances but a betting man wouldn't gamble on this one!

We got a ton of rain for about 24hrs. Looks like rain again on Saturday, not sure how heavy though.
I would expect a muddy race track. I haven't been to Village since they redesigned it..
Did you try calling River Valley for a Friday practice?

I just got off the phone with Terry Cordray, owner at Village Creek and we are waiting for 9am Friday to see what the forecast is. If they downgrade the rain to a 30% chance, we will go for it. Right now with 50% forecasted, I doubt we can but I hope that 9am gives you enough time.

We got over 3" of rain at my house and I'm about 15 miles north of Village Creek. Their track is on a hillside that drains quickly, but the pits are on flat ground at the base of the hill and that might be a problem.

Not sure how you feel about a bit of trail riding. The only cross country event that I ever put on my calendar is the Bonita 100, which benefits the Rider Down Foundation, is taking place this weekend. With it being a cross country it is running hell or high water. 95% of the trails are all bobcat wide. it is a mix between a bit of clay, loamy sand, and some deeper sand. The track land is owned by a motocross guy though, or maybe a cross country guy that likes to jump, because there are probably 20 or so jumps to an 18 mile course. It is a buddy race so join the kids in some action or ironman it and try to go all 100 miles. Either way, it is a ton of fun and will not disappoint. Just be sure to know where the pond jump is. Go to www.race-toro.org for more information...... Sorry for the infomercial, just thought you'd like to know.

I got an email from the winter series promoters and the Village Creek race this weekend is a go.

This is exactly what I was coming on here to say. I race with some buddies and I couldn't make this race last year and they won't shut up about how awesome the track is. I'm definitely making it on Sunday.
