I need some advice on my 125. Currently it is a stock 2002 with a milled head. I have a chance to get a 144 cylinder and head done by Millineaum. Or, I could have mine ported. Does anyone have experience with 144 RM's. Is it better to go with the ported 125 or 144 kit?

Comparably the ported 125 will have more top end but much less torque. Boring a cylinder will lower intake ports and lower and narrow the exhaust port. The best option is having the 144 cylinder ported to raise the ports up to take advantage of the extra cc's.

Do you have any recomendations on who could port the thing? I race it both in mot and enduros but I generally run moto setup in both.

Since you're in So-Cal I'd get a hold of Terry Varner http://varnermotorsports.com/

Like with suspension, you'll get 100 different opinions on Vital as to who you should have do what. I like the idea of being able to walk in and talk to the person that will do your work instead of shipping it to a faceless company. That dosen't mean you can't get quality work by shipping it out of the area, it's just what you feel the most comfortable with.

Thanks....that's who milled my head and he was great. Until then I had never had an engine builder call me a couple of weeks later to see if I was happy. I have had good work from the larger shops but they do treat you like a number.

There are a bunch of guys who do it. Eric Gorr is probably the most popular and he gets $500 is you supply your own cylinder. Google Eric Gorr Forward Motion

Sounds like the best thing to do, im not happy with my EG kit, seems like just a "kit" ( mass produced BIG bore and litle/no porting) and no personal touch to the parts, his work didn't match up to the sweet storys on his homepage, ironic when he writes a perfomance handbook and takes up a miss-match problem on the 99 cr125 cylinder, and when he ported mine he didn't fix that problem..

Go with someone where you can meet the person behind the engine mod...

My parts are going to http://www.tdc2strokeperformance.com/ and Brett seems like a really nice guy to that takes his job serious!

I have a 2006 RM144 from Eric Gorr and it's been bulletproof and runs awesome. Love it.
