Does anyone Know the Date and location of the last AMA MX outdoor national in Florida?

Does anyone Know the Date and location of the last AMA MX outdoor national in Florida? Putting together a presentation for a new national track in south florida and hope we can get the tour out here...Dates and location of teh last one out here would be super helpfull. Thanks!

I would think Gatorback, but I am not sure when it was last there..

From the MX Vault: The AMA Motocross tour did not start at its traditional opening round in Gainesville, Florida. In fact, Gatorback was no longer even a national, as the late February event was basically exchanged for a round of AMA Supercross at nearby Tampa. The teams and many in the industry argued that it didn't make sense to do a single national in the middle of the stadium tour, since it left little time for testing and switching things over and then back. The schedule has remained that way ever since, and no outdoor national has been held in Florida since 1997.

Wow, Thanks for that history lesson! This really helps.

We hope is to re-open a certain track in South Florida with a National Track, Amateur Supercross Track, Training facility, Bike Storage, Pro Shop, Suspension Techs, Bike Rentals, MX summer Camp, Supercross Track ( pro card only ), FMX training and Foam Pit, BMX, and skate park.

The idea is that with a new world class natural terrain National track, with some elevations built by backfilling the land with literally tons of imported dirt, Georgia clay, gravel, and top soil, to bury that florida sand and the addition of the supporting facilities as well as a relationship with a Hotel and Casino that it could be a great stop on the tour and really get the MX culture going in Florida. With riders like The Alessi's, Reed, Stewart, and many more moving to Florida becuase of the super Cheap Real Estate and Land we hope to make it a reality.

Wish us luck! and thanks again and look for a petition to show support of the project soon on Vital along with 3d renderings of the facility!

You're re-opening Orlando sports stadium? Woohoo (just kidding)
How far south in Fla?
That may be an issue with getting national attention.
South Florida is so far south of much of the national fan base.
Maybe someone could get another Fla winter series going.

Sorry about not follwoing up with this folks. Yes it was in deed Seminole MX. But After presenting to the tribe they killed the idea in the prelininary stages. Unfortunatly the new tribal council does not want to do anything with MX.

Such a waste of a great track and the stands are still sitting there all grown over abandon.

We tried.

I rode there several times over a couple years and it was always in great condition and fun. Great group of "regulars" and a fun ride in up snake road. Thanks for keeping the thought alive.

Is that Seminole Indian MX track or maybe Thundercross? The Nationals badly need a great sand track on the schedule.
