Unreal! The dude is off his rocker, and a fry short of a happy meal. Grande Heuvos.

Its cool to see the distance jumping craze back in full swing. But with so many guys going for this 400ft record, I think there's a decent chance somebody is gonna wind up dead.

I guess i didnt quite get the details right, its 7am here and i havent slept. I guess his records were ".. broke the record for height (78') and distance over an open gap (348')"

Whats to stop these guys from just building bigger ramps? is there any kind of regulation to them? Seems to me they should all have to hit the same size ramp and see who goes further.

They classify everything a little too much IMO. Theres gap distance, natural terrain, ramp to ramp, ramp to dirt, and on and on. It should just be the furthest distance. People have been hating on Byrd because he has a huge hill that he uses for his landing, but look at his run in. He has a survey crew come out to measure but hasn't had Guiness out for the "offical record".

wow ,, amazing jump by Capes!!! .
insane. Smile

Scottie
- they recently had just such a contest in australia.
( March 08?)

all hitting the exact same ramp..

allowed "x" number of attempts.

and the winner was the guiniess official distance at that time
(since tail wind /elevation etc all comes into play in the jump being the actual
official distance record)

Capes, seth ,trigger gumm and robbie maddison where all there (likely others)

Gumm had a broken foot and couldnt ultimately compete.(500AF)
Seths best was 301' on a 450
Capes did well on a 450, and went in the 320's?

But Maddison on the 500AF easily won it with a new official record of 346' (at the time)

if he isn't touching dirt until the landing maybe he can get a little more speed by running something other than knobbies???

i don't know what but just a thought that came to mind

got nothing on this guy...

I hear he is racing the nationals next year (on a Harley) and of course, that's why JBS is going SX only...

They just need to make it all concrete and use a FMX landing ramp instead of dirt. Then he can throw on some supermoto tires and grab more traction.

More traction, but a lot more weight, in a SM or DT tire carcass..?
not sure how the trade off would be ?

but guys like maddo , trigger and capes ,i'm sure have tried it..?

Maddo told me just taking the visor off his helmet made a huge difference
in number of feet on a jump that big,,(and that makes total sense)

they may go huck 200 plus feet , 20 times on a calm morning..so they do *test*

Ya I was thinking that too; wear like a streetbike helmet, some streetbike leathers, and throw on some motard fenders for aerodynamics.
