Why ask the kid to make a video that would send you into a drinking binge? You know two strokes doing well or the promotion of anything similar is not welcome by you as it isn't a part of the wonderful plan you industry folk and factories have to bleed the last of us dry. I hope he makes it and you watch it , rush to dismiss what it means, and cry yourself to sleep on your Honda pillow.

If "leave your claims here to speak for themselves" means deleting posts that does not tickle you pink then yes, that is what you will do.

Post more intelligently, and quit trying to pick fights with other members, and your post count would be higher. Smile

That was a crazy track with walls on one side, and drop offs on the other. That'll teach you to hold your lines.

Can't find it now, but Jimmy D raced a Ktm 125(or 144) in a video and won. You should be able to find it on YT.

Dustbag, at your skill level, anything is possible, because you're riding with kids of the same novice ability. Whether you win, come in second or dead last, it all comes down to one thing. You. You'll need to have more saddle time, racing experience and be moved up a couple classes before the bike starts to limit your chances. (Then again, Johnny Omara proved THAT theory wrong.)
You may be at somewhat of a disadvantage on the start due to h.p., but you can negate that by being good on the trigger. After that, some very basic rules apply. Turn the throttle on sooner, and all the way to the stop, not just as far as your wrist will turn. (You'll figure out what I mean. Maybe. Wink Lol) Leave it on longer, longer than the kid beside you. Races are won and lost on corner speed. Any asshole can hold the throttle wide open in a straight line. (Think: scooter5002)
Charge into the corners and intimidate people doing so. This ain't golf. You knock the occasional guy over, sucks to be him. Don't be a jerk, but it'll happen.
Get on the brakes later and harder. Again, later than the guy in front of or beside you. Maintain momentum, because speed lost is speed you have to regain. Crucial on a 125.
Don't follow people into corners. They fall off coming into or in the corner and you're piled up on top of him or waiting for the parking lot attendant to straighten the mess out and 9 guys go around you. Go wide sometimes, even if it means it will mean the same gap at the exit of the corner. Other guy falls and you're up a position. Especially true at the Dunes.
Be smooth. Learn good form and speed will come. It's not all about winning off the hop. Staying healthy is the key to enjoying racing. Get banged up early and you will become disenchanted very quickly. Ride properly, don't go wild and ride over your head trying to stay in front of a kid who caught you out of nowhere. He's probably going to smoke your ass anyway, because he read this memo and paid attention. Let him go, a broken leg isn't worth a $10 piece of plastic. Race for the fun, not for the win. Those will come in time.
On the start, waiting for the gate to drop, don't roll the throttle off and on like everyone else at your level. Practice starts, and know where you should have your throttle. That's a huge advantage right there.
Hit the gym. Now. Find someone who can give you a fitness program geared to moto, or at least read up on some weightlifting. Focus maybe a little more on Cardio, but strength is important. Don't think you're going to show up at the Dunes season opener and smoke everyone. Adrenalin and fatigue will have your tongue in the spokes and sitting down in 2 laps. It only goes downhill from there.
No matter your results, don't blame the bike. Look in the mirror. Ride that bike as it should be ridden and smoothly, and good results will follow. Most of all, have fun. That's why you're out there.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Just kidding in fact I think the just opposite. That advice is spot ON.

You have to admit it Guy B, that was a pretty brilliant post! Laughing We should all praise and support any efforts by anyone to promote all things 125 related. If a couple Japanese mfgs (well, actually all) don't support the 125 or produce them, then to hell with them. No reason to prevent the resurgence of the best class that ever was. Long live the one two five!

I tend to object when people claim to know what I'm thinking.

Not 125 / 250Fs, but last summer I raced Vet Junior up here in Alberta at a Provincial round, there were 13 guys on the line, only 2 250's and 11 450Fs. The two strokes went 1 and 3, a guy on a KTM 250 won, and I got third on my CR250!

It was frickin AWESOME!!! Wink

The first one? We were young and grew apart. She also didn't want kids. I knew that before we tied the knot, and thought it would change. It didn't.

The second? My ex and money shouldn't be alone in the same room together. Expen$ive lesson learned.
