Thinking of going with one of the two for my 2013 KTM 450 SXF. Any first hand knowledge here on either? Looking at either the works package from MX Tech or the complete ttx shock and forks from Ohlins.

Have you called MX Tech and spoken with Jeremy? Was extremely helpful and did not "oversell" me on my '13 KTM 150SX suspension package.

There are many choices out there for suspension. I would love to make Race Tech your choice. We have been doing a TON of KTM stuff, it seems everyone is thinking orange, and getting great feedback. We also have a discount setup for VitalMX members. Shoot me an email to chris@racetech.com and I will personally work with our techs on getting their suggestions and get you taken care of.

We have 2 bikes with Race Tech suspensions, we have had other suspension set ups. Race Tech is the place to go. The re-valves were right on, and easily adjustable for different conditions. We did get different springs with the valves. You can't go wrong with Race Tech. They are the best suspensions we've had. You will not be disappointed .

I know the work done to a set of vintage Simon's forks on Michael Candria's 77(?) RM250 by Race Tech was light years beyond amazing. Never felt a set of old suspension so plush. Keeps me wanting to send in a set myself. Can you guys do anything with a set of Fox Factory Forx?

I've been wondering the same thing, Joe, after Matthes' podcast with Paul Thede.

BTW here's an image of the Fox internal damping, such as it is. They actually did have some interchangeable bits to alter damping (rebound I believe).

Newmann,

I asked Paul about the Fox Factory Forx since I wasn't sure.

Here is what he had to say, "Yes, we have done them at RT at had amazing results. I was involved and worked with Travis on them. The bushings were way too tight. They also were setup for air so had a long topout spring and soft main spring. Tell them to send them in."

Let me know if you're interested.

I'll get them pulled soon and send them in. Where to though? They are freshly built and I have them set at 10 1/2 inches of travel. Race Tech .46 springs and I used one of the original top Fox springs (stiffer) cut to length for the top out spring to shorten them down to a 10 1/2 in. stroke. 5 wt. oil provided no dampening whatsoever so there is 10 wt. in them now. Still not good. Also, not getting full travel at the moment so the oil heigth is suspect. Thanks.

Edit, mine are not set up for air with the .46 springs.

Email me to chris@racetech.com

I will get your info in the system before they arrive, along with a VitalMX discount and make sure they get setup for exactly what you wish (we'll finalize via email).

Let's make this the first of many projects together. If we can make one set amazing for you, I'm confident we'll get the rest sent our way!

PS. Let me know what bike they are going on.

We are running full Ohlins on a 2012 CRF250R. Very happy! Talk to David at Fast Bike Industries. He's a former factory mechanic and worked for Ohlins. Now he has his own shop. Very easy to talk to and great pricing. I can say when you do a full custom revalve on the stock stuff you never recoup your money. At least when the time comes you can sell the Ohlins.

Thanks. Spoke with David last week, very easy to talk to. He quoted me a pretty fair price, just trying to get myself to pull the trigger.
