Oakland SX question.

Just relocated to the Sacremento area and considering a trip to Oakland for the SX. I've been to Phoenix, Dallas, Indy, and Saint Louis but not sure how safe Oakland would be. Any info on safe parking or should I consider a train/public transportation and leave the car behind.

I went to it last year and my hotel actually provided transport to and from the SX. I'd go that route and leave your car at the hotel. I remember it being a pretty rough area. When we were leaving one homeless guy playing a sax was gettting pissed because people weren't giving him money as they walked by. It was pretty funny.

It's easy on and off the freeway without getting on to city neighborhood streets, not really an issue. Parking at Concord Bart and taking the train is an option, too, because as I recall there's a pedestrian bridge from the station directly to the stadium.

Yeah, like the others said. If you're driving, the stadium is right off the freeway and easy to get in and out of. It is in a rough area a few blocks over. Just stay out of the "hood" and you will be OK.

Thanks for the recommendations; any of the area dealers have tickets or is ticketmaster the only option.

We go all the time for Warriors and A's games and never have any issues. Heads up, you can park for free at the BART parking lot across the transit tracks. Level 200 is awesome viewing at the Oakland Coliseum for the SX.

I will say that oakland is not near the venue that AT&T park is but you will enjoy yourself normaly they have a pretty decent track set up and good views from all around

Concord Bart may be worse than east Oakland. Make the extra drive to Lafayette...might be safer. Smile _

Nah, Bob, Concord is fine, I always hit it when I have to go in the city. It's not like it's Antioch. Wink And you'll notice I didn't mention Richmond.

Defintely Lafayette and Orinda are posher, but might as well drive all the way to the Stadium if one gets that far in.
