What's the link between the Rolling Stones and the Trans-AMA Series, trivia question?

Good guesses guys and part timer was closest.

The original venue for the ill fated Stones free concert was going to be at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway) but a dispute over the $300,000 site fee meant the concert organisers switched it to Altamont Speedway nr Tracey & Livermore.
Sears Point held several Trans AMA rounds and the original stage site was going to be on top of a gently sloping rise.
The promoters used the same low stage at Altamont but situated it in a hollow so the massive 300,000 + crowd were continually pressing against the stage.
Several fights broke out as the Hells Angels, brought in to run security, viciously hit out at the unruley crowd with snapped off pool cues and bike chains. Meridith Hunter was rough handled by the hells Angels so returned with a firearm. He was disarmed by an Angel and stabbed to death infront of stage whilst the Stones played on.
Eventually the Stones and their management exited the venue crammed into an overloaded helicopter and the Grateful Dead refused to perform.
The concert had been billed as the Woodstock of the West Coast but following the murder and several other death's it's become known as the end of the free living hippy era!
The hells Angels were reputedly paid with $500 worth of beer to provide security but by nightime most were off their heads on speed, acid, ripple wine and booze.
Previously the Stones had used the UK Hell's Angels at a concert in Hyde Park London, but their US counterparts were a lot more of a viscious, criminal gang than the m/c enthusiasts in Britain.
The hell's Angel who stabbed Hunter was eventually tried but the case was thrown out as he claimed to be acting in self defense as Hunter had a firearm!

I forgot to add that the Hell's Angels, incensed that the Rolling Stones disowned them in the furore afterwards, swore they would get vengeance on Mick Jagger and group members.
Several years later the security forces foiled a plot to assasinate Mick Jagger at one of his houses, a contract put out by the disgruntled biker gang.

Your story of working in a gas station near Richmond chapter Hells Angels clubhouse reminded me of back in 1977 when my parents owned a garage nr Kendal Cumbria. On the August Bank holiday weekend promoters organised a Pop concert at Kendal showground with Uriah Heep as the headline act. I'd been racing at the Malham evening scramble and was working on my Montesa in the garage late into the night, getting it ready for a race the following day. Suddenly about 2 dozen Hells Angels roared up on their bikes looking for petrol. The pump lights were turned off but I'd have been a brave lad to tell them we were closed and refuse to serve them!.
Thinking I could easily get robbed and beaten up, I proceeded to fill their bikes with fuel, they all paid me cash and I must admit talking to them, they were a decent bunch of guys, solicitors, doctors etc who just dressed up as Hells Angels on the weekend!
Quite a few asked me about my bike, and wished me well for the upcoming race. Funny how you "shouldn't judge a book by it's cover"!
